Waylonville is named after my grandson ( age 5), not to original ,but we had named it that when he started planning My Town. I watched him for several days, not necessarily seeing the big draw. Ever so often, he would say, "Granny, I've been good, can you buy this?" because he needed more coins or bucks foe something. Wanting to see what I was spending my real money on I visited his town one night. The rest is history -- it is now My Town, but still--Waylonville!

Great idea for a thread Raven. My town "Arizona Bay" is from one of my favourite songs by one of my favourite bands. Aenima by Tool
On another note there is a incredible show about Crows & Ravens that aired last year on "The Nature of Things" with David Suzuki (CBC) called "A Murder of Crows" that I highly recommend to you Raven.
Learn to swim ;D

Good idea, this. About 10 years ago, a guy I worked with started calling me Shabba after Mr Ranks who sang Mr Loverman (yes, he called me it for the reason you're thinking ) and now, after all these years, my ringtone is that song. I live in a multicultural suburb with lots of people of West Indian origin, who tend to call their homes their 'yard', hence Shabba's Yard. London?

I soooo need to get a new town name, how boring it's just my name! Well most North Americans get my name but in England people tend to assume it's short for Jason hence I started to use JayeGirl when I'm on the net and have been using it for a long time now. People think I am just giving my initial when I say my complete name lol. Or ask what is Jaye short for

So thought I would post to bring this thread back to the surface! Raven 29067906 Wow! I didn’t know “whirligigville” would get so much attention! Well, I hope I have an interesting enough story to tell you… It comes from my sister. We are both from Taiwan and she learned the word “whirligig” from the book “The most important English vocabulary you need to learn to prepare an English test.” She used this word to describe a toy we played with when we were young. All her American friends just looked at her and said “what?” Everyone laughed after they figured out what “it” is and always make jokes about it. ;D Anyway, one of the translations of “whirligig” in Chinese is the toy top.

I recently moved to Green Valley Ranch which is a suburb of Denver, CO, it's out by the airport and pretty far out for people....my sister started calling it shireville when she'd come over and her and I now have running jokes about having sintars with flutes, fairies and other ridiculous stuff in my neighborhood (my favorite, it doesn't snow in shireville, its actually glitter..LOL)...we now have all our friends calling it The Shire.. Anyway, that's my story!!

A few Bilbos kicking about, maybe Dark Lord here and there... the possibilities are endless!

Oh, thanks for resurrecting this thread. The question of my name came up on another thread but I will post it again here.
bleeping slootie = sleeping beauty.
Someone special to me used to call me Sleeping Beauty and when my oldest child was very young, he tried the name out and "bleeping slootie" was the result. The name stuck ...
