I started last night and am having trouble getting into this one. Can I do things when I visit people? So far no one seems to have anything for me to buy and I haven't seen anything to indicate where I can help someone do something on the few farms I visited.

Lol Leilani - I tried this one too - stuck it out for a few days then dropped it - just couldn't get into it - I've been watching posts though and seems like maybe once you get past the first bit it might grab you!!!

There's not tons to do at neighboring farms. You can revive their trees and help load their ship if exclamation marks are present. For me once I leveled up a little it became way more fun.

Hi guys Jaye, if you can find people who sells cakes on the newspaper lists, or if you use the lazy kid, he will fetch you cakes at cheap prices. As for visiting other people's farm, you can fill their boats if they have requested help.. Revive trees and berries, or getting lucky a lockbox may be there.. Or if they have anything for sale that you may need item of.. Barn and silo expansions requires materials that you can get collecting production stuff, harvesting, lock boxes. Or buying them from someone's shop which is what I do frequently.. I have been using the kid to help me with the boats at times... The gem costs of the kid 15 for 1 day. I do 100 gems for 10 days... I have bought some gems when they pop up on sale.. Sorry I haven't been keeping up with this hehe

I am highly addicted to this game! I do load others farmers boats because it is great for XP and they help return the favor when needed. I'm on gamecenter under tczelda if anyone wants to friend me. I will add you, and hi... Nice to meet you. Could you explain how the boat works please? I just don't get it lol. I avoided helping others because I wasn't sure if I had to pay, or just give my goods. Not that I ever have such massive quantities to fill a boat. So you help, you give goods and in return you just get xp, or xp and coins? And with my own boat, say I fill an order box, what do I get and do I have to have all the orders filled on a boat? Hope I'm making sense. I'm not buying the Ore or juiceing machines. My gawwwd they are massively expensive. I struggle to save £16,000 in a week so it's just not going to happen lol.

Sorry I haven't been keeping up with this hehe Thanks Leash, I do buy a few gems but I don't want to do that often and don't want to use them for the little helper. I've done it twice and he's a good way of getting cheap berries and cherries. I avoid the lock boxes, I think 3 gems for what you get back isn't a good deal lol but when I've needed stuff for building the barn/silo I'll open the box, if it's not what I want I close off my game, reboot it and it doesn't take my gems I think some of the boxes are free but...if you have gems you can't tell?

Jayegirl, I never spend gems on the locked lock boxes.. I click on them hoping for a unlocked one. I have only bought gems twice. Both times it was on a 30% off sale. The 570 gems batch and the 1500 gems batch, so far I have had sale of the 3750 gems batch show up, but for me 30% is not enough. I have heard if you wait long enough and not buy, they may drop price to 50 - 60%. But I haven't seen that.
As for boats.. If someone has requested help to fill their boat, as long you have the required item, you can fill that crate, you get coin and experience. The person will not get coin and exp if they have their crates filled by other people. However once the boat is filled, they can send it off, and get experience, and a random color token. If you have the boat, you have 4 hours to get materials you need before boat arrives, the first time is generally very easy to get. Then the boat gives you 10-18 hours to fill the boat before its departure. If you fill up the boat crates with the required items (say 3 crates of 5 goat milk, 3 crates of 80 wheat, and 3 crates of 60 soybeans) if you fill your own boat, you get coins, and experience. When boat is loaded, you need to send them off so you can get your experience and token. When you first start the boat orders, it's 4 crates I think.. Maybe 3. As you get higher in level, you end up getting upwards of 9 or 12 crates.
There is a achievement with first ribbon give 1 gem and experience, 2 ribbons give 2 gem and more experience, and 3 ribbons gives 3 gems. Not sure if anyone got that.
And Jaye, you can wait til you have more than enough to buy the ore and juicing production machines... I took upwards of 3 weeks and over 100,000 coins saved up to buy my juicing machine and ice cream. The jam machine is almost 69,000 coins, ill wait for a while to save up on that first...

Forgot to mention there was a update today. The animal food producing now has stars to earn for less time of making animal food. Potatoes and the likes of potato foods, and a black Andalusian horse.. I am not level 40 so I do not know how much they are. I am betting probably 15-20 tokens of each colors.... I am saving my yellow tokens to get the required 9 for my first pinto horse lol..

I've been playing this game fo 2 days and really enjoying it. JayeGirl bought something from my stand.
What can I do at my friends' farms? Found the answer to this above.

I'm trying, but I'm still having a hard time getting into this one. Judy, how were you able to tell who bought something from your stand? All I get is an excaimation point and haven't noticed anyone's name when I click on it.
If someone shows up at the farm asking for something and you say no, is there any kind of penalty? I made a guy wait over a day for pancakes because I didn't want to send him away, but I didn't have the supplies to make them.

Leilani,
I think you can only tell who bought if it's your friend.
Don't worry about saying "No" to a visitor. They offer to buy more than I can spare at times, and I have declined to buy fairly often.
The chickens crack me up! I love how they look dead and then stick up,their heads to see if anyone is going to feed them.
I got to the level where I can repair my dock, but it costs 16,000 to start! It took me hours to get the 3,800 I needed for my 2nd feed mill, so I think it will be days before I can start the dock.

I agree with Judy on the walk up neighbors. Honestly I've been ignoring them for a week because they were just asking for saws over and over. Has anyone noticed the majority of the time they ask for what you have the most of in your silo/ barn? And then of course the remainder of the time they ask for something I do not have. They are good for selling eggs and milk because they do offer a high price. And I waited on the smelters awhile too because they are so slow. The platinum bar takes 16 hours, the gold 12, and silver 8. I do not open the lock boxes for diamonds personally I think the diamonds are better spent on adding more spaces in your production machine queues or Tom( but he is pricey, not to mention 2 hour breaks in between jobs).

Found a pitfall. I was so busy making bread for a truck order that I almost ran out of wheat. Had 2 left when I noticed. Fortunately it grows fast, so I was able to get my supply up. I had wondered why anyone would buy my excess wheat when I put it up for sale, but this could be a reason. If you run out....
So far, Tom is free and running errands every 2 hours. Tis was very handy for clearing my land and getting wool and raspberries that take so long to mature.
I am spending diamonds on mystery boxes. I'm spending money on the game right now because I want to. I have been able to upgrade my barn and silo in part from what the boxes provide.
Today's deal is 10 shovels. Are they needed for anything besides clearing ponds?

I decided to buy the shovels for diamonds and put some up for sale. Zelda bought them. What will you use them for?

New discovery: we can put things for sale in our stands without running an ad. Then, when it's time for a free ad, post one at a really good price. I did that and sold out immediately. My need was to clear stuff out of my barn, but I made money in the process.
Also, it's easy to add friends or followers by touching a symbol above the farm's name.

Thanks for shovels Judy! Besides clearing land you can use the shovels to dig for ore in the mine. And enjoy Tom he is a handy little fellow. I've been considering splurging on him. I just wish he could get building items. Apparently the storage on the barn and silo is pretty high. Someone told me theirs is at 2000. I can't imagine getting that far. Where I am now I have to have 39 of each item to expand.

Well, I've been playing all day with minor breaks for other games.
I was at level 22 when I built my dock and speeded it up with diamonds. The first shipment calls for 6 crates
2 with 20 eggs 2 with 12 apples 2 with 3 blue sweaters
I have 14 hours to do this, but that means finishing before I go to bed.
I've asked for help with one sweater crate and one apple crate. Also, I've harvested an apple tree 3 times and have asked for a restoration. I have seen crate requests at other farms, but not for fruit restoration.
