I was thinking that we have almost everything here (a tiki bar, games, tips, etc), but the one thing we're missing is a place for people to pat themselves or someone else on the back and give a shout out to something good that happened to them. It can be anything that made your day a little brighter no matter how big or small. So don't be shy, share something good today and maybe it will make someone else smile too.
My good thing that happened today is my husband made a beautiful smoked salmon which is one of my top ten favorite meals. A little smoked salmon, a little wine, and a night in with someone you care about makes for a good day.

+ 1 for a great idea, Leilani. I really like this as a thread - you're right - we should take more time to stop and smell the roses. I have spent the last two weeks on and off staying with family. Today is the last day staying at the lake house with my parents, my brother, and his family. This morning I woke up and as I walked past my parents room to go downstairs I heard a familiar 'babble-talk' that always makes my heart swell with pride. I looked in, and there in the bed were my mum, dad, my daughter, and my teenage niece and nephew. They were all focused on Emma, and trying to make sense of her garbled baby talk. She was in her element, showing off like she knew she was the star. Family is everything

It has been a stressful day for me, but baby is asleep. My bright spot of the day was a guy 3-4 houses down the road, who is a refugee from Bhutan with only one leg. He used to walk on his crutches into the city/supermarkets maybe 5K away, but I saw him there today riding a bicycle! While a tricycle makes more sense to me, I was so pleased for him. I just wish I could understand his Engrish - his wife usually does the talking.

Wow derekville that is some feel good story.
Yesterday I was able to drive my 17yr old twin boys 3 hrs so the can ski and snowboard. While I sat in the base lodge.
Kuwi, Cherish the time with Emma when she gets big you have to trap her in the car for hrs to spend time with her. Between them working, school and friend your time comes down to breakfast and dinner. Enjoy
PS HAPPY NEW YEAR

Derek! Very cool!
Lovepuppet! So true - when I visit my daughter (now 33!) we now try to always do one thing just the two of us for some special time together - it had reach the point that we never had time together!
When I got home from this trip my first day home a friend (with my current wee 2 yr old love) texted that beef stew and fresh biscuits were ready if I wanted to share dinner with them! Warmed my heart and tummy! Was there in 2.9 seconds lol

Kiwi, Emma is so precious and a real cutie.
Derek, that's a wonderful, uplifting story.
Let's see if I can keep this thread moving. I had 2 good things that happened last night. My oldest daughter finished her essay for her grad school application. Woohoo! Now we just wait. My youngest daughter managed to pack all her things for her trip in a carry-on bag saving us $25 each way in checked baggage fees. Woohoo again!

Having carry on only is great, isn't it? My bag always seems to be the last one off (but I do always try to get there early and fake a limp so I can get a seat with more leg room).
Our good news today is the boy has fully recovered from his high fever, except for a little rash, and said 'night, night' for the first time last night! Edit: Oh, and it was his birthday yesterday, but we didn't give him his cake until today because we didn't want to risk him not sleeping. He is about a month older than Emma.
