I think the number of franchises a business gets, the higher the popularity, even if you do not do a bunch of checkins. When we start doing checkins, I bet the popularity will just skyrocket. Not sure if it will stay high, with the popularity monster and all, but it is worth the try. I will keep an eye on this thread and start tapping when I get the go ahead  |

Yes, I think the name thing will work better, i got a couple too, but we should work fast because the weekend is coming up in the states. Pity it is not so cunning and convoluted.
What about we name our towns 'buy elephant biz plz'? We shouldn't forget our manners.
What about we do it for a couple of days, then change our names back and then when we feel like it, check in like crazy? Sound workable?
The server lag thing should work to our advantage.

Great changed my name. And had my friend franchise the business she's in SF CA 43 bucks so its high if they don't know how to change locations. Let me know when to tap away. I have several thousand.

Sorry really difficult to coordinate over so many time zones. I got about 15 franchises so far, but I was a bad father. I was busy going through my friend list so didn't have time to make a proper Lego robot and the boy gave me with a 'you call this a giant robot dog?' Look when he came to the living room to play...
It is in NY so hopefully the pop thing will be ok.

So stop talking about it. Delete the thread in z little while and just behave normally, no extra franchising or anything unusual. If you changed your town name, change it back in a couple of days. See how many there are.

I don't think this will work. Pop went up far too quickly. W need a biz on zero. Derek- I am completely lost. But here is a business with a zero pop in honor of the Tiki Bar thread. You will have to wait until the server updates. It is sitting in the middle of my town.  |

Data to report.
I did maybe 3-4 hours franchising (mother and baby sure do sleep a lot) With the name changed town, but only got about 20 franchises. Most of my friend list is from Europe and I got most from a little flurry at the start when I went through my friend list, but response rate was much lower when the price became prohibitive. The price in my town went from 100 to 600 in about five hours then peeked at 950, before going down again.
Uptake was very low. Maybe 5% and even a few of those were people that know me. I think Sardi was about the same tho I think her naming strategy was better than mine.
Random franchising to towns in New York didn't seem to work at all, only 3-4 out of maybe 150.
In short, I don't think it is doable unless it is massive, preplanned and synchronised. Too much like hard work for a small group.

I have actually been to that bar in Melbourne... It is quite near the MCG. When duke reports in we will know approx how many ppl own the elephant business. i think about 50 at the moment. I suggest we wait a week or so and see what happens to the elephant biz and maybe mess with another business for a few days.
RHoS is still over 2.5k in my town.

Derek- The problem with that is that there are other towns out there that own the dancing elephant business, before this all started. They have franchised it from our towns prior and have kept it. Not sure knowing how many own it has to do with moving forward or not. You said the pop was too high. If you want to do a test like this, you need to start with a business that has o pop and encourge folks to franchise it and keep it. Just fyi............Inflating the franchises- NY NY pop now sits at 231. |

Hi, The elephant bar has been placed on my Island. I thought we wanted to keep low for a few days. I had changed my name only 3 franchised. Everyone else franchised smaller businesses. Not the dancing elephant. I think that they either want higher population businesses or they don't have enough population to add a new business. And it is very hard to part with your first businesses. We might have to only have that business, by itself available to franchise.  |

Here's my friend's business. From zero, no franchises. Checkins got it to 2k. That's after about a week with no activity. I realize this kind of thing has probably been tried before, but there has to be a way around the pop monster. Attachments:

the elephant seems to be a good one for the fountain lake collection pieces. Not getting any robot parts. Earned 2 fountain lakes already from this business alone today.
