Oh right. I had seen that before but thought that referred to when someone initially purchased the business. I didn't realize that after that a business could be franchised for coins too. All the towns I have visited before have needed bucks for franchising.

Can you please visit and see if you can also franchise for coins?

Thanks for the tip! I franchised some of your businesses. Now I am maxed out on businesses. I didn't know that could happen.

The more popular businesses are available at discount. Look for someone to franchise the business from and it will only cost you coins.

Assuming you set location correctly, the issue is that you need to try and find somebody to franchise from. Then any business, regardless of popularity, will be available for purchase in coins. Buying from Booyah is always gonna be in bucks for popular locations. You should honestly never buy from the store unless you ABSOLUTELY cannot find it in somebody else's town. If you don't have a friend with the business, try using the "Explore" option under "Social" and looking under the town that the business is from.

maybe I am not understanding what you are saying but many businesses I want are only available for bucks - are you saying we need to enter the person we want to buy from into our friends list by their Booyah ID and then the business will be available for cash?? sorry confused here in my old age

I found someone (actually a member here but i forget who) with Saks Fifth Ave, but to franchise would have cost me several hundred bucks... Does this person have to be in new york city and have the nyc property to me to be able to get it by coins? At present i am unable to actually try these..i am several days away from having good coffers (only 6 SE built so far, 3 built today thanks to Chilli franchising me!) Edit: ok proved my theory... I found a city thats full of great NYC businesses that i can franchise (once i get a few more SE built-cant wait ^_^) im assuming their location is set to new york as well Edit2: ok checked the city again (awesomeville) and now all properties are buck only franchisers, even the nyc ones 0-0 so confused lol

Archangel, Make sure the game is showing that you are in fact in that location, ie., New York. I usually do a check-in in that city and make sure the distance on that check-in shows that I am there. After the check-in you should be able to franchise with coins.

I know Solsville covered "location switching" in an earlier post, but I want to elaborate on how and why you should do it. The main reason you SHOULD do it is that it will allow you to buy a business that would normally only cost green bucks (because you are over 100 miles from it) for mere coins (which are a lot easier to get). The reason is you will be switching your GPS location to a new area, and your device will "see" you there instead of where you really are. First off, why even bother?- much easier to buy businesses in coins instead of bucks - gives you a far greater selection of businesses to choose from; you can literally buy anything, anywhere, without spending bucks - allows you to acquire some of the game's most popular properties without ever being near them So, how do you do it?Ok...everybody has the ability to manually change their location once. The way to do it is simple: 1. Close out the game 2. Go into settings and turn off location services 3. Open game back up and hit the check-in button on the lower left side of the screen. MT2 will tell you that it is a location-based game and urge you to either turn on your location settings or to manually put in your location. You can pick anywhere in the world! Now you will gain access to that area's businesses. Check it out: you can go under the "explore" tab of your new area (let's say San Francisco), and you will now see businesses in San Francisco, Cupertino, Los Gatos, etc. selling FOR COINS. However, now businesses in your actual location (let's say New York) will cost bucks. Don't worry! Once you turn location services back on, you'll be seen at your "real" location again. You only get to do this once as location services going off in the future will prompt the selected location to be triggered. BUT, you can fool the system. If you want to pick a new secondary location, you have to delete MT2 and reinstall. Don't get scared! Just delete the app...it will tell you all data will be deleted...stand firm, and when it asks if you want to "keep" or "remove" the game center data, hit KEEP. Now reinstall, and rinse and repeat. You get to manually select another new location with the location services off. Best of all, nothing is lost...even the jobs you were doing will still be in progress. Viola! DO THIS AT YOUR OWN RISK. A few caveats with the delete trick...1. Don't do this if you are on low battery UNLESS you are plugged in and not at risk of your device shutting down. 2. Don't do this if you are in an area with poor reception. If you don't hit "keep" or the data fails to sync after you select to delete, you could lose your town. I can confirm that it is totally effective on an I-phone 4 or 4s and players with I-touches have not had any known problems...at least I haven't heard of any. Previously, I recommended not doing it from an I-Pad as at least one member was unable to restore their town, but since the trick has been confirmed to be safe on I-Pad, go forward with caution. Hope that helps! This still works! Just did it on iPad 1. Thought I was gonna throw up while doing it. Just so excited it worked. Yeah, it worked!

When I "explore" and booyah automatically finds towns near me, why are the franchises which are "in my location" still only available for franchise in bucks? I changed my location in the beginning to NYC and was able to buy franchises in coins. My location services is currently on, so I guess I am now at my "real" location and I don't understand why the towns near me don't reflect that and/or why it thinks I'm outside NYC for franchising but not in location.
Hope this makes sense...

Hope this makes sense... Hey Snibull, Do the "check-in" trick as noted above if that doesn't work - then close out of the game: a. close out of MT2 b. Double-click home button. c. Hold finger on apps until they shake. d. Tape minus sign on MT2 app icon e. Restart MT2 app and check-in to a local business. You should be able to franchise businesses in your local area for coins

Thanks for the reply solsville. Before I read te response though I kept searching through the towns explore gave me and found a domino's with +40K pop and franchised it for around 330K coins. The other franchises in the person's town were for bucks and it was located in NYC too... Not sure of why. Guess I'll wait to try the advice on my next purchase. How can people afford those $2K buck franchises?! I struggle to get bucks as it is... Mostly coming from BB and chilli franchising me (very thankful for their help).

I used to be able to do this but I tried switching my city to new york and it didn't work. I deleted the app turned off my location then downloaded the app and checked in to New York, New York. Still on local check ins it shows them being 5,000+ miles away and all franchises cost several thousand bucks for high businesses. Any help?
Edit**** On a hunch I searched for businesses near my current location and they were all really cheap. Went back to my friends town and all the business were now able to be franchised for coins.

Barracuda Bay MacRumors post #1289 Feb 10, 2012, 10:23 AM Here is the thing. As long as you live close to the business itself (have not quite figured it out myself - it's a distance by miles thing...something like within 150-200 miles), you can pay in coins. As a Long Islander, I have access to all of NYC and its boroughs, north Jersey, all of Connecticut and apparently also Philadelphia, PA (about a 2 hr drive), as far as I can tell. I don't get access to Boston, MA which is about 215 miles away.
If you don't live close to a lot of popular places, you will often see only bucks. BUT if go exploring to local areas by you, this will change to mostly coin offers.

What is the "stay time" for a changed location? I recently "moved" to Paris, but I have all the businesses I want from there. Ready to move to San Francisco. But when I tried, I lost all my Paris businesses. How long should I wait before I change again? GO TO: Japanese Shrine - #50 for your next CLUE.

Hi ND I visited your town and you still have your Jaqueline, Creperie and Quick businesses. Did you have others that disappeared? I have not had any problems myself with moving. I usually wait about 24 hours, mostly because of work commitment, though. I need to make real bucks and coins.
