That tiki bar in Melbourne is actually extremely garish, but did have some good music sometimes. Since words have different meanings in different countries- what exactly do you mean by "garish"?

Ringleader Derek - which business do you want to do? Suggestion is to pick a business and do a week's worth of checkin blitzes and then let it sit for a few days, maybe a week. This will be to observe what happens.
I looked into the stats of 3 businesses. The check-ins are supposed to give you a +1 popularity boost. It's obvious there is some averages of averages going on when the servers sync and one person has completed mass check-ins while others do not do mass check-ins.
Vliegveld Twente Pop: 178,378 Total check-ins: 10,326
Quick Pop: 47,251 Total check-ins: 2,704,815
Raven's House of Style Pop: 2,412 Total check-ins: 24,364
I suspect Quick has so many check-ins because it is a fairly popular local business. Even if a mayor doesn't own it, there are locals doing check-ins. This is compared to Vliegveld, which is high in pop but not readily accessible for local check-ins. Just a thought or two, or three!

Just read Sardi and Ams posts. Derek - you decide what you want to do. I gave up trying to put actual scientific data to the popularity so let's just go find some magic dust if you want to call "stalemate" like Sardi said.
Ams - never ask. And never google. Unless the word comes from Raven. Then it's safe and you'll expect it's some food related item that only her 4,000 pop town can grow in the snow!

I like RHoS since a couple of thousand taps have already been done. But the elephant business does have a cooler name.
Garish = tacky, tasteless. But as I said, it had some good bands.
As rain passes me by again and nails Kiwi's town yet again...
So, a well travelled tourist is in Wellington waiting to leave New Zealand... He says to a hotel worker: You know, I really loved visiting New Zealand... The bay of islands, pristine tropical islands dappling an azure sea. The central volcanos are like an alien landscape with those multicolored lakes. Hot springs are superb, and kayaking in the Abel Tasman park while dolphins frolick around you... And the southern alps and Fiordland are like little unspoiled Switzerlands and Norways. But here. It is always raining and oh my god the wind! Then you have to climb a mountain to get anywhere! I swear. Wellington is the a-hole of New Zealand! The hotel worker replies: so you are just passing though, then, sir?

As a girl of Waikato stock, I reserve the right to laugh at Wellywood jokes. I am just continuing to tap RHoS - it's staying over 2500

Why don't we just take the path of least resistance and do RHoS? Lots of people know Raven, so it may have a chance. But the big advantage of WSECD is its location. What do people think?

Why don't we start with the elephant one and see what happens. After the few days of letting it sit we can come back and make a decision then and depending on what it does, we can switch over to Raven's business. This way if it messes anything up, RHOS will not be affected.

That sounds like a good idea. I think I will still do the occasional tap on RHoS to try to keep Raven's pop in the positive numbers, tho.
Or we could just open the savegame file in a hex editor and see if anything jumps out, but my experience with those things is limited to 'change 4329 to 4330 in line 2459.'
The v airport can't be naturally popular. It is not even a major Amsterdam airport.
Leafy vegetable ( that's what my dictionary said) with shrimps and tofu tonight.

Dancing with the Elephant for a week with a few hundred taps on RHOS that works for me. .i still am not sure what micro franchising is or how it works. But I guess that will not affect the outcome any.

I'll be honest - I have only skimmed all the stuff where you lot are figuring out what to do, but now that you have - I will commence blitzing WSECD while I still pay the odd visit o RHoS.
Current popularities in my town: WSECD is on 1122, and RHoS is on 2570

You guys see why my long standing world domination plans have come to naught. But let's try and recruit a few more players, too. And any franchises would be cool, so I will place WSECD in a prominent place.

Maybe we should change to ny too. Although I am having fun in Marseilles. Maybe we should relocate ourselves every day, and franchise back and forth between us; one day I buy off you, and the next day we reverse?

Cross franchising doesn't work, from the evidence of the last attempt. I am pretty sure we want outside Frenchies.
