Father's day is on Sunday, June 17th! Welcome all fathers, uncles, brothers, grandpas, papas, and sons! This is the first Father's Day for the forum and with Solsville's approval, there will be a special reward left for you on Father's Day. This is a Father's Day reward event - Mother's Day was in May so ladies ... you will have to wait another year for your next reward event! The rules are simple: All you have to do is post your town name and ID in this thread so you can be rewarded! If you want to leave a post for another dad in the forum or your own dad (even if he's not on the forum) you are welcome to do so. The reward is simple: It is a reward for you and you won't know what it is until Father's Day. It could be a gift, a franchise, an exalt, or a virtual (manly-bear) hug. Happy Father's Day to all of our Fathers! **This event is closed as of 06/18/2012**

I don't have a dad - never did - but I did have a grandpa. He was my entire world. As far as I was concerned, he walked on water. He took me everywhere with him, saw me every day of his life, and made me feel loved, beautiful, safe, and the most precious jewel on the face of the earth. He was also a career cop who took me to work with him almost every night; the fondest memories of my life are those where I spent evenings in the substation with him, or waiting for him to pick me up at 3 a.m. in his cruiser; I would run out in my jammies, climb in the car, and we'd go to Winchell's for fresh donuts. I took care of him the last year of his life. The tables had turned; now he was paralyzed and depended on me for everything. It was an honor and a privilege to turn my family room into a hospital room for him. When I had to take him off life support, he came out of his coma, opened his eyes, looked right at me, and said, "Grandpa loves you". For that 30 seconds, he was my grandpa again. Then he went back into the coma and died four days later. Grandpa has been gone 23 years now, but he lives on in my heart. I weep for him every day. As long as I carry him with me, though, he'll always be alive. I love you, Grandpa, and I wish you were really here to give me a hug. You were - and always will be - the man against whom I hold all others up to. Happy Father's Day.

Fantastic idea Snibull My husband is celebrating his first Father's Day as Daddy to our beautiful baby girl, and it still brings a lump to my throat and tears to my eyes when I recall seeing her in his arms for the first time moments after her birth. Emma was much sought after baby - we had years of heartbreak to have her - and miscarried several times. Yet through it all my husband was amazing; he never faltered from the view that one day we will have a baby that will be the most wanted and loved baby in the world. And he was right. I look see the way he looks at her, and I know she has the best father she could be given. Happy Father's Day to my darling husband, and thank you for the gift of our daughter. And to my own father - you set the bar high. I love you, Dad xx

This will be my second year as a father. My gorgeous little girl is coming on leaps and bounds! She is at that age where she's pushing the boundaries and being a stroppy little mare! Even so, she's the best thing that's happened to me and I love her to bits! I'll be taking my 75 year old father out for a beer or two on Sunday too. In the words of John McClaine: "Yippe Ki Yay MuthaFathers!"

Lovely stories, and a lovely thread.
Happy father's day to all the men out there. Have a lovely weekend and enjoy your special day with your families.
I have two brothers and two sisters, 4 of us will be taking Dad and step Mum out for lunch so it will be a real family affair. My Mum left when I was 5 and my younger brother was only 18 months old so Dad brought us all up with the help of my eldest sister.
A big thank you to my Dad who still treats me as the youngest daughter (in the nicest way possible) and is always there for me.

What a nice thread Snibull, I felt warm and teary eyed as I read the posts above. My Dad passed away at a early age but I feel very much connected to him and have to say thanks to him for branding me a Princess ;D Love and kisses sent to heaven where I cant wait to see him again. Hope your up there drinking, playing cards, watching wheel of fortune and laughing with Grandpa who left us in 2008. A special shout to my brother who against all odds is a great dad and brought me my beautiful niece and my handsome nephew. Loving them with all I have reminds me just how special family is. Bro you inspire me and got me ready to have kids of my own one day. Shouts to all the dads!!!!!!!! Men, never forget how important you are, we need you

Thanks for starting this, Snibull. Happy Father's Day to all the Robin Hoods who provide for us so generously.
My father had been gone since '97. I remember him with gratitude. My ex-husband became disenchanted with me but devoted his life to our 3 children, 2 of whom are MDs and the other a brand new RN. I am thankful for all he gave to them.
Everyday, I am reminded of my heavenly Father's provision for me. The last few months have been among the toughest in my life, but I'm making it through. This forum is something I look forward to each morning and evening.

I couldn't be prouder to be a Father. My two little whipper-snappers (11-year old son & 8-year old daughter) are my Pride & Joy! I will definitely be enjoying my Father's Day weekend with the family. Happy Father's Day to all the Dads out there! A nice little quote I ran across: A dad is someone who wants to catch you before you fall but instead picks you up, brushes you off, and lets you try again. A dad is someone who wants to keep you from making mistakes but instead lets you find your own way, even though his heart breaks in silence when you get hurt. A dad is someone who holds you when you cry, scolds you when you break the rules, shines with pride when you succeed, and has faith in you even when you fail...
