Well, the deed is done. My granddaughter wasn't up to it, but my daughter is a trooper. It was a peaceful process. I have so many memories to help fill the emptiness.
I'm thinking my next pet will be a cat--short hair. At age 71, I don't think I'll be up to walking a dog for too long.

Level 35
After I'd been in the level for awhile, the X-Ray building became available which allowed me to complete the first study for the Zebra Pig. It is a game glitch that the study becomes available long before you can use it.
The Dog
When I started the quests for the 4th expansion, it said I had to create meat to feed the dog. I got all the meat, but no dog that I could see. Now, he is present at the entrance to the wilderness from Expansion 3. Won't be hungry for a few more hours.

Level 36
The dog is still waiting to complete his feedings. He is more expensive than the cat. I appreciate the gifts of meat given in response to my requests. For some reason, I got to feed him twice yesterday. Usually it takes 24 hours for him to be hungry again. He seems to be standing guard to the 4th expansion.
Neutrino
This building became available a few hours after I was in this level. No problem to build, as I had plenty of wood and energy. But, the last step was expensive as were 2 studies I did chewing up gold that I had been successful in using sparingly up until then.
Hadron Collider
This building became available in this level, too. Again, not too bad to build until the last step. Then, there was a study to complete and another one to upgrade. But, I went ahead and spent the gold.

Beware of the new version. I've been waiting an hour for it to finish installing!
Edit: It finished shortly after I posted. Did take over an hour. Maybe their server was busy.
Edit 2: A great improvement is in placing purchases such as animals. The check box is away from the target. You move the underlying farm to place the purchase.

I'm not sure if this is new with the update or if I just never noticed it before. We have the ability to visit a random neighbor and invite them to be game friends. I picked a couple of farms that looked like people are actively playing and invited them. It'll be interesting to see if anyone accepts.
I agree Judy, the placing of objects is a lot easier now especially on my teeny tiny little screen. Actually the first time I invited a random player, I couldn't read what the button had on it so I clicked it and that's when it told me that my invite had been sent.

Changes in revised game:
The Random Player feature is new. I have been inviting people who appear to be moving along, even if at a low level. I found someone had invited me, and I accepted. The cool thing about visiting Random Players is that you get 5 free energies to use. I have to be careful not to go past that unless it is to my benefit.
If you find someone with spoiled crops, go ahead and click on the crop. It will likely take 2 clicks to harvest it, but you may get the beetle that completes the collection back home. I don't invite players with spoiled crops.
I'm sad to see that Nicolas has disappeared. I can't tell you how many tasks I completed by going to his farm to feed goats or whatever. Edit: Nicolas is back!
The new placement feature does allow moving the item as well as the underlying field.
It appears that the cat has to be present with the farmer to earn the bonuses for multiple tasks in a row. I think it used to be only that the cat had to be fed. I tried moving from my forest to harvesting crops and back again. Each time, the counter reset to level 1 and only started when the cat caught up with me.

Level 37
I got to this level before I finished feeding the dog. Once he is out of the way, the 4th expansion is available to buy, for $165,000. Since I had about half that, it is taking me awhile to save up. Although I buy gold, now $20 worth to last 2 days, I balk at buying dollars.
The pineapple crop is available. I think it is the last one.

Judy, I thought the same thing about Nicholas and was so happy to see that he came back after I closed my game and opened it again. I have to harvest a neighbors tomatoes and had no idea how I was going to do it since the only player that I found with tomatoes planted still had over an hour left before they matured. With Nicholas back, it'll just take a couple days as long as I remember to just harvest the tomatoes, leave and come back to harvest them again until I use up my 5 friend energies.
I like the new way to add friends. One of the players I invited has accepted so it was a nice little surprise this morning. Expanding the friend base should hopefully make it easier to obtain items. I always feel bad asking you guys for the same stuff over and over again.
I'm not sure about the cat and the bonus. I haven't noticed a difference, but I also haven't been paying attention to the bonus. I know before the upgrade it was doable without the cat, it was just a lot easier to do with him.

Thoughts on the upgrade continued:
The Random player feature is a major bonus. I have been working on my farm for over 2 hours with very little gold expended thanks to being able to go to new farms and work 5 energies for free.
The teleport requires a huge amount of metal, radium, aluminum, and motors to complete. It is not possible to pass through the port until it is complete, so the farmer has to go around the long way to get back to the first farm area. I decided to put in a crop in area 1 in case I get a visitor who wants to harvest. I'm spending most of my time in area 4, planting crops to complete tasks and chopping stones to get the needed metal. The total amount of gold needed to complete instantly has been reduced from 168 to 141. I have used some of the metal I gained by chopping rocks for creations in the lab.
Money continues to be in short supply, forcing me to sell crops like Artillery Cucumber which I would prefer to keep. Finishing the dog house and the teleport through the construction phase that takes wood, energy and money is what chewed up my money supply. Oh yes, and the $165,000 to buy area 4. That said, I am finding the game more interesting since I have more commodities to keep in balance.
Dog House If I had it to do over again, I would not complete the Dog House, at least not right away. One more expensive mouth to feed. One more animal to keep track of. I haven't seen a benefit from him yet.
Area 4: This is a pleasant place to work, with the river visible on 2 sides and no buildings to get in the way.
Major annoyance: The noise the cat makes jumping around is getting on my nerves. I am turning sound off to avoid it. The worst is when I am in the lab or trying to buy something and the noise is constant.

I noticed last night that Nicholas disappeared again. I got him back this morning, but I'm not sure if he goes away at a certain time of day or if it has something to do with visiting random neighbors.
Judy, I was able to get the bonus without the cat. You have to quickly click the rewards as they fall while still clicking on the jobs to be done. if you let the rewards do their own thing; then, they're collected too slow to get the bonus.
I'm very happy with the way things are progressing in the game. I was able to open up my third expansion and as soon as I collect a couple more bolts and finish making some glue, I'll be able to complete the incubator without spending gold. One note about spending gold, be careful when working at neighbors and collecting your rewards. I was tapping quickly and accidentally spent 2 pieces of gold to do more tasks. It was one of those MT2 accidental upgrade moments.

So I have some more questions. What is considered to be not neighborly behavior when working on another's farm. Is there anything I shouldn't do? How do I harvest the melon and pineapple if I can't find any? Mr wizard disappeared for a long time on me not sure if he is back. I think he is! I do like being able to visit random players. When your name comes up and you have given me something there is a line if things which I assume you want. How do I know if I have this item to give you? Well that's all for now, at least I finally got past making glue! Thanks for any and all help!

So Mr Wizard is back, he must come back when I can visit him. And I finally found the melons and pineapples, so I guess I will be visiting him for many many days.

Hi 407Mom, I'm glad to see you are progressing. Yes, Mr. Wizard is the way to do work you can't find anywhere else. I don't see a specific pattern yet about when he appears and disappears. So far, he has been there part of every day. You will find he has every crop and animal. There are even a few trees and a rock if you go down the path in front of the farm.
There is a way to request specific items. In the Collections area, you can click on the item that is the hardest to get. Easy to tell. It's at zero while everything else has a count. You can also deselect. The way to give to someone else's requests is to click the Show wishing friends box. This only gives results when you have gifts to give.
Don't worry about doing something wrong at someone's farm. We can decline help if we don't want it.

Level 38
Just chugging along.
The dog
He gets over being hungry if ignored and is back running all over the farm within an hour or so. I think he is more of a culprit than the cat in making the noise I find obnoxious.

Leilani, you have the most beautiful garden of any I've seen. I learned that Rose petals are available from seeing yours. You are making great strides in your game. I wish you had an iPad to see more of it at once.

Thanks Judy. I was so happy to find the rose petals. I had no idea what I was going to fill that area in with to prevent trees and rocks from popping up in it. It was worth the expense to have one nice little patch of land.
Mom, the only thing I would say about working on other people's farms is that some people have the signs indicating that they want or don't want help with tress and rocks. I've only seen it once so far, but if the signs are present I'll follow their instruction. Other than that, I say help away with whatever you can. I'm trying to leave things to do on my farm as much as possible and any help is appreciated.
Am I right that gifting someone something they request doesn't remove it from your inventory? I'm pretty sure that I've gifted things that I don't have in inventory and that gifting hasn't reduced my inventory levels of an item.
I'm still trying to figure out if Nicholas leaves us at night or after we visit a certain number of random players.

What is a golden action?, or whatever it is called that sounds like that! How do you use them? It's the option that pops up if you've used your 5 friend actions and click on another action while at a friend's farm. I've accidentally spent gold getting them a couple times and it seems like they're used automatically, but because I did it unintentionally I'm not completely sure.
