Apparently over the weekend, Booyah put a limit on the number of Bucks a property owner can receive when someone franchises their biz for Bucks. The most you can receive for a single franchise is 50 Bucks.

Hi, Great Boards here!!! My town has grown fast since the tips you have provided, thanks a bunch. I am able to add a bunch of business's now, and I want them to be Primo, but I don't have bucks, just millions of coins. Any tips for finding the best for coins? What is the best business available for coins and how much is it?? Anyone know? Thanks Lisa, Mayor of Storybrooke ID#32074983

Hi Lisa,
The best thing for you would be to franchise high popularity businesses in your location. If you explore other towns near your location you can franchise them with coins.
If you turn off your location settings - you can visit a different location, such as New York and explore those towns to franchise using coins.
I believe Barracuda Bay will be posting a list of high value businesses soon. You can go to almost any of our Forum Member's towns and find high value businesses. As long as you are in the same location as the business you can Franchise with coins.
I hope this makes sense.

What I just wrote got deleted by the page crashing, so I will keep my response brief. Basically, businesses closer to you (generally within 100 miles) will cost coins, and businesses outside of your area will cost bucks. So if you are in NYC, businesses in Newark and Philadelphia can be bought for coins, but ones from Boston will show up in bucks. You should always focus on franchising from players over buying a good business from Booyah. I will post the pros and cons of franchising later tonight.
Tomorrow though, I will post a trick that allows you to buy ANY available business for coins. You will NEVER have to use bucks. Stay tuned for a how-to on turning off location services, and how to do this multiple times to get buck-free access to purchase businesses anywhere in the world.

Okay, so it's about "proximity". The nearest businesses to me are not worth much, but I have branched out to some more popular areas in our state. So, your very important Starbucks' cost "bucks" for me because I'm out of town.
Will be looking for your next post re-businesses for coins!! Thank You both!!!! Great towns! Back to Storybrooke.....(I'm NOT Regina, though)

Yep, proximity is the reason for the difference. There is one exception: "hot" businesses, which have over 2k popularity, are sold by Booyah ALWAYS in bucks, even if you are close by. But for franchising, it won't matter: if you are within range, they'll be in coins. The trick's now been posted in a new thread (see"Buying Businesses for Coins..." You should now know everything you need to know about the subject. Any further questions, ask us!

When i visit a town and click on the stats page, the popularity shown for a business will be different to when i click on the business on the town page... On the stats page does this show the popularity after the owners bonuses from wonders have been added on? and by clicking the business itself on the town page, does this show the actual popularity before any adds have been put on? possibly a dumb question but someones gotta ask

When you click on the stats page it will show the business' popularity for THAT owner. Could be the popularity that is "locked-in" for that owner with combination of level of biz, wonders, franchises, etc.
When you click on the Franchise Hands in the town, it will show the popularity that you will receive when you franchise that particular business from that particular owner.
Obviously there are many factors involved in the popularity that effect its value. You can literally franchise the same business from two different owners and the popularity will be different.
To make it even stranger, try looking at the stats page and make a note of the popularity. Then tap on the business in the town, then take a look at the stats page again. It changes the number to the value in the town. BUT, that original value that you saw, is the value of the business to the owner.
Confusing?

If I understood you correctly, that means I wouldn't be able to know how much popularity I can pass on to a franchiser. Correct?
And the only way to know is if someone visits my town and checks my popularity by clicking on the business from my town page.
And the popularity of a business that I see in my stats page is specifically for my town, only.
Hmmmmn... then I cannot "advertise to franchise me, xxx is my popularity".

Yes, that is correct. I guess if you want to advertise your popular buinesses, you need to look at your town from a different account or have someone else look at them for you.

The photos really help, Sols!
I want to know how to get my businesses higher popularity when it goes up a lot, on someone else's town. It worked for me once, by relocating, and then checking on one of the big players' towns. My stats reset.... But I haven't been able to repeat it.
Maybe if it's up on the person you originally franchised from, it will reset for you, if you relocate to the business' city, and your franchiser's town??
No clue. This will be a tough one to figure out. I don't think any of us fully understand the business popularity / stats, yet.

You're right, JB. And the fact that Booyah keeps changing the Popularity parameters makes it even more challenging to figure out.

Wish I had your popularity, Sols! Thanks for the detailed explanation! Anytime, tarheel. If you're not afraid to do the location switching and you franchise from the list of Top 30 Businesses, you will have no problem hitting the high popularity numbers. Everyone has their own preference on how they play the game. As long as you're having fun.

With all due respect, I think what TarHeel means here is the very high popularity numbers of the top businesses you showed in your picture, i.e. the "100k+" businesses. My top numbers are similiar: Starbucks - 155094 Dominos Pizza - 135316 Begins Cafe - 132297 Nintendo World - 130632 Four Seasons - 126965 My top 15 businesses all exceed 50k popularity. At this point, with Booyah's changes, it is simply not possible to reach that level of popularity even if you are grabbing the entire top 30. Nothing is allowed to go beyond 90k or it gets nerfed by the system which you dub the "popularity monster." Most "top" businesses are now somewhere between 20k and 50k. Let's face it, things HAD gotten insane. Mixer Bar was at 245k, Quick was over 200k, and the Bonfini Pastabar was around 180k. I don't know that Booyah had to step in and change that, especially since the previous owners all got to keep and add onto their old popularities, but that was their apparent decision.

An interesting and informative discussion on franchising.
This thread began initially with a discussion about franchising low popularity businesses but has since evolved into discussing various aspects of franchising.

Hey all, Not sure if this has been mentioned before but I have been trying to help out newbies by franchising and since i am buck limited (have an unjailbroken device), what I do is franchise a low pop business (often find some that cost a buck!). They get 50 bucks and it cost me 1 buck . And then I delete the business I just franchised and get coins. Sooo, I got to thinking --what a great way to give and get bucks ( and also get coins too)! If we all had one extremely low pop business, we could franchise cheaply from each other and make a good net profit! I franchise your dollar biz, you get 50 bucks, then you franchise my dollar biz and I get 50 bucks plus we get a few coins when we sell the franchised biz! Of course if the popularity of our cheap biz goes up, we can always sell and replace so we always have a cheap franchise opportunity for our friends! And of course, you have to franchise with bucks! Whaddya think? . You would have to have 34 businesses plus one cheapie biz for this to work (one open slot so you can reciprocate). Anyhow, My cheapie bz will be next to the church, if you want to try it and I will franchise you back!
