If I buy a franchise business from someone and then sell it: 1. Does the person I franchised from lose the franchise percentage? 2. Can I buy another business to replace it without going up in population? I have a few friends I'd like to help out. Thanks! ;D

Maybe Pekman or Candyland can help answer this. I'm sure with all the franchising they do, they must franchise and then sell-off immediately. It seems that the owner's stats retain the latest franchise (which would be a 5% increase, since they sell right away and don't ever get the % increases from raising the business level) Here is a screenshot of my most often franchised business, Sweet City in New York. It retains Pekman City and cAndy Land as Franchises, even though I'm certain they sell them to make room for the other Franchises they do. (Note: New Boudes franchised it and took it to level 5 - thus the 25% increase). Hope this helps.

So there is nothing to stop you from franchising a friends business and selling it off immediately multiple times correct? They would still get 50 bucks each time?

I was reading the section on how to buy businesses with coins, and thought I'd try it out. I was soooo excited to find so many of my dream businesses for coins. I went a little crazy...
I'm not sure yet if I goofed up or not.
Yesterday, I sold around 8 of my low popularity, boring businesses and had a blast turning my location on to NY. Bought businesses I never thought I would be able to get with my stockpile of coins. After getting the new ones up and going, I had my son try to check them out... He then told me how much it was going to be to franchise any of them.
Now I realize I may never get back up to level 10 with them..(Like most of the 8 I sold). No one will be able to afford to franchise me! Did I make a big mistake by doing this? Should I have just kept my old businesses, ones that didn't interest me, that were at level 10? Besides the fact that I love the new ones for what they are, (bought Yankee Stadium yea!) did I goof up getting rid of the old ones?
Any advice will be appreciated.

People get really hung up on getting to Level 10 because it pays more, but the fact is, if you have a low pop business, it's not going to pay much no matter what level you're on. If people want to franchise your businesses and they're not in your area, they can location switch and get them for coins. This is also where the Robin Hoods come in. They go around and franchise people's businesses, giving them bucks to use however they wish. You'll also receive up to 50 bucks for the higher pop businesses if you're franchised by someone who's using bucks; otherwise, you'll receive coins. I don't understand the formula used to determine how many bucks/coins are given to the franchisee, but Sol would be the one to ask about that. It's something of a mystery. The bottom line is, you want to get the highest pop businesses you can - or, like me, businesses that you really like no matter what the pop. There's no hurry to level up; in fact, it gives you something to work towards if your town is full and you don't have any more land. I only have two Level 10's, and I'm slowly bringing the others up. If I see a high pop business I like, I'll sell off a lower pop one and franchise the new one. You did the right thing.

While it is fun to location change and buy businesess with high pop, the one caveat is that u WILL lose ur current level of the business that ur selling and will have to start over at level 1. it does not carry over. it's definitely something to think about before doing it. i had to delete several level 6 businesses in order to purchase the ones with high pop. but with the help of the robin hoods, i was able to instant upgrade back to level 6 i was on a high pop chase for the longest time, eliminating all my low pop and purchased the highest ones available but i soon started to realize there is no end to it. my highest at one point was wonderland's starbucks at 400k, a couple days later i saw a mayor who had that same business for 1 mil...soon after i came across the same business for 2.9mil! where does it all stop? well, it doesnt. just have fun with it! ;D i eventually stopped chasing and now content with what i have.

When I got rid of all my hometown businesses and started collecting Apple Stores I kept one of the old ones until I got a new one up to level 10 then the hometown business was deleted. Just so visiting mayors had a level 10 business to gift. That's really the only reason you need level 10. Post in the Franchise Me thread and hopefully some of the robin hoods will franchise your new high population businesses and you will get 50 bucks each. I'm at a point now where I have been very fortunate and received many franchises thanks to this forum so when I get a business to level 9 I just pay the bucks to get it to level 10. It takes a loooong time otherwise as you already know. Getting up to level 9 won't take too long if knock out as many check ins as you can each day.

Kech is right about the businesses losing value. I don't location switch, but I did buy a business that had a 1.9M pop. The next day, it dropped to 19,000. I've stopped looking for the really high pop businesses, too... I buy the ones I like, and I never upgrade the business by paying for them. I just keep doing jobs, and now all my business average out at Level 7. I really don't care about what level they are; I don't need the coins.

Thanks so much for the input I feel much better now! It's true, I should buy the businesses that I truly like and have a meaning for me and not get so worked up over what level I'm on! I feel too guilty going on the Franchise Me page.... I have been blessed with my town. They shouldn't waste a gift on me when there are others just starting out who could really use the help. Just having my Yankee stadium has me happy as pie now! Thanks again!

Thank you Marville, it hasn't been an easy hunt but it's worth it. Anyone who has never been in an Apple Store needs to take a road trip and visit. They're awesome.

I tried to find the answer to this question in the Does selling a franchise hurt the franchisee? thread but that discussion ended up going in a completely different direction so I figured I would start my own thread. I have had a number of Mayors come to my town, Franchise one of my businesses then immediately delete the business, presumably before it finishes building. I get a percentage of the franchise cost, a small popularity bump, and a 5% Franchise Bonus. What I am curious about is the 5% Franchise Bonus. With the latest update, Booyah released the "Instant Build" buff from completing errands. I have been using this buff to go to neighboring towns and Insta-Franchising their low-mid pop businesses. I then dump a check-in/speed-boost into it so I can power-level it to level 3-4 while I wait for the next Insta-build to pop up. At that point, I delete the fledgling business and hunt for a new Insta-franchise. Does anyone know what happens to the Franchise Bonus when I delete the Business? Does the 15%-20% Franchise Bonus stay with the Franchisee? Am I doing these Mayors any favors by letting their businesses finish building? Thanks to everyone who has visited my town for random acts of kindness (especially Snibull and Geordie who pretty much bought my Mt. Fuji).

I'm going to take a shot at answering this but I don't know if I'm right. I think that when you delete it they lose the bonus if it is more than level 1. I had someone come in one day and franchise a bunch of my businesses and took them all to level 10. I no longer see those franchises in my business stats, so I believe that when he deleted them the 50% bonus went away.
One thing about the franchise list though is that it's hard to know exactly who franchised from you. When I look through my franchise list, certain towns that I know franchised the businesses and still have it don't show up under the "Your Franchises" section of the stats. However certain towns show up multiple times with a higher than 5% bounus showing, so I think the stats aren't that accurate in showing everybody that has ever franchised your business.
I'm sure a test could be run to confirm this answer, but I haven't heard of anybody verifying this. It would be a good thing to know.

I just ran a test:
The franchised business receives +5% Bonus Income for each level you upgrade while you STILL OWN the franchised business.
It appears that once you delete the franchised business, the franchise and Bonus Income disappear from their stats.
I tried this with both Level 1 and Level 4 businesses, and the franchises on both disappeared once the businesses were sold.
I know it used to keep the franchise in the stats, but now it looks like one of the updates corrected that.

The franchise list in ur stat page consist of the most recent 5 franchisees. The older ones disappear and the newer one takes its place. It goes away, so I'm not sure if their percentages remains. I don't see a reason why not tho.
On a side note: U can visit ur franchisees' towns by simply tapping on their town names in "Your Franchises" list. A lot of people ask who these anonymous RHs are and not being able to find them because they're not listed on the forum. Simply click on their names and u'll be able to visit their towns ;D. Again, it's the most recent five that are listed.
