Well I'm finished with this game.
After spending truly countless hours playing, having had two businesses zapped before, tonight they zapped SIX! All huge businesses.
7-11 was 34k Starbucks was 332k 24 Hour Fitness was 38k McDonalds was 48k Walmart was 71k Best Buy was 35k
Now all 25
I can't win at this game.
Thanks to all who have tried to help me build my town, I appreciate your aide.
It's simply fruitless to continue.

Eh, why did they all drop to 25?? ;; I'll visit too, of course~ The dreaded popularity monster that in one day randomly hits businesses gutting the population and rendering them valueless. It is particularly ugly when it hits your big Businesess. In her case it was seriously ugly, she lost a massive amount of earning power on jobs, franchises and effort that went into purchasing and building her businesses. Some businesses may take weeks to recover and some may not recover at all.

I assume this is Booyah's way of making common businesses that newbies would want affordable to them? o.o; Well, I franchised and upgraded five to level 5...Hope that helps (when she gets it, cause my franchises seem to take ages to go through sometimes...)!

I have some questions, and do not want to clog up this thread for people trying to find towns to visit. Thanks mytown2.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=tips&action=display&thread=112#ixzz29O4PP2JAEdit: Snibull/Raven- Can you move the posts so we can continue the discussion? Thanks

No that is a common assumption made by this forum! There is no proof to this. Booyah has been asked multiple times about this and they have no idea why it happens. I don't think they have a reason to lie about it, plus other owners of the same business including Booyahtopia only suffers minor changes in pop after a pop monster hit. I think if booyah wanted newbies to benefit by this Booyahtopia would get hit as well. I have a working theory with accual proof as to the why and how it happens, I just need to see how the next couple days play out, then I will explain it in a thread.

This has happened to me many, many times, very frustrating!!! It seems like the ones from My Town, CA get hit the hardest. That has been my experience recently! Now I don't worry about the population and just go for businesses that I like. Everyone has different ways of playing the game! Just my opinion!

Yes they do have My Town, CA in the address. I don't have them anymore. It was too frustrating to keep them. Lol. I would buy them for a huge amount of bucks and watch them drop off after a week or two. Starbucks and Macy's are 2 that I remember. The only good thing was that I could sell them for a lot once they dropped. I've never noticed Vliegveld Twente dropping.

Madmod,
I am very interested in your study. I usually notice the pop monster effect everyone at the same time, not individual folks. Example was the Ritz. The bottom dropped, but it came right back up.
I also know believe as Kelly stated above, I see a lot of variances with the businesses that have an address- Booyah..my town, CA. ...etc And that doesn't surprise me, since they seem to be the ones that people mess with the most.

I'm pretty sure all my high pop businesses in L'Arc were gained using the airplane mode trick in Booyahtopia. You go to the town, put your device in airplane mode while in it, and then the businesses show at pop zero, so you can buy them for 1 buck. After you place it, and let the server catch up, the pop goes back to normal. The only business I have from doing that now showing a pop of 25 is Karaoke Palace. Which does indeed have that address...857 Booyah St., MyTown, CA. Hmm. Not that I personally care, but it is curious. I am very interested to know your theory, also. o.o @ madmod

Lol Yes I have noticed the same about the booyah address, and have only kept the ones that have been very solid, the real addresses currently in Booyahtopia also seem to be pretty solid in terms of the pop monster fluctuation or should I say flatulentions The Ritz hit the other week was very interesting. I looked at over 50 of them from all around the world, most were destroyed, however I found one that the pop monster had totally over looked so I snapped it up ;D Im really hoping Sol will come back soon as I have a bunch of question for him, he was tracking the pop monster for along time and has documented it in some threads. if anyone else has tracked the pop for their businesses at anytime please let me know, because the information would be very helpful.

kitsuneladyI noticed you have the ritz, did you notice the pop monster hit a few weeks ago? Lol... I see you have been spinning and winning... I didn't notice. e.e I only bought those high pop businesses in case I needed some RH help, lol...obviously I'm not interested in the popularity leaderboards, nor do I make my coin via my businesses. XD So if the pop changed, I wouldn't have noticed or cared. The only reason I noticed Karaoke Palace was bc I went looking out of curiosity from this thread. =x And yes, I <3 STW, lol.

Since you mentioned the Ritz, I got the one I have in storage in Coruscant out and looked at it. The pop on that one is 22812, and the pop on the one I have in L'Arc is 25,216. I wonder if storing businesses freezes their stats at whatever they were at when you stored them...and then, does it update if you leave them out for a while to being current? Hm.

I've been playing for over a year, accumulating over 1 trillion coins and thousands of bucks thanks to the spin 2 win glitch. My ranking in Game Center was as low as 208 and no my iPad is not Jail broken.
I'm ticked off after now being hit twice within a month by the popularity monster. I'm done.
My last words to Booyah is Boooooo!

Unlike the popularity monster attack on other businesses, the booyah business drop seems to happen for some players and not others. On my visits to other towns I see mytown businesses at top popularity and the 25 popularity. I had the my town, ca AMC theatres. It also dropped to 25 and didn't recover. I sold it. I now have the Walmart and it's still at 70000. Creperie and Quick have dropped and never returned to their previous high level but but they are still performing well enough that I have no plans to get rid of them. An unintentional side effect of my game strategy is that unless Booyah decides adjust every single one of our businesses I'm somewhat cushioned from the impact of one or my several businesses facing drastic drops. - I've only paid coins and single bucks for my businesses. So If they drop too far w/o recovering, then I don't feel bad about dumping them. by that point I've more than made what I paid for them in the first place.
- business from a variety of sources 1/3 local businesses, 1/3 booyatopia and 1/3 real businesses from around the world
Update: My walmart dropped to 25. Was thinking about deleting a business anyway. Now the decision has been made for me. I'm staying away from the my town,ca businesses from now on.
