Posting to pull thread up again!!! Any other philosophers out there? it might seem I'm obsessed with Businesess and pop, however I'm really more interested in the pop monster and how/if it can be stomped. I'm not big on the wacky decorations or skins as scale seems more real to me. I like my town to be functional like a real town would and not to be over cluttered, however now I'm breaking out the snow globes before the next update... So it's snow glow clutter time!

It felt so good to finally get rid of all my snow globes and make room for my realistic town. Even now it seems too cluttered though and that's partly due to the businesses and I'm not one bit interested in obtaining all 35 businesses. Not enough room for that. I want a little functional town that I could picture living in and enjoying its serenity.
The realist coming out in me I guess... ;D

*coughs* I have 35 businesses...and seven in storage. 6.6;; I like collecting weird ones. And ones that I've been to or patronized and have fond memories of. I don't build businesses for their popularity, and the ones I did choose for that reason were just to provide something worthwhile for the RHs when I needed their help. =) The ones I had in Coruscant are either stored or deleted, with one exception - I *did* keep the French Laundry out, because I like the name and think it goes well with that skin. Even though the actual restaurant looks nothing like that. XD L'Arc I left all of them, cause weird businesses isn't my goal in that town. They were cheap anyhow, cause I bought them all for a buck in Booyahtopia, haha.
But anyhoo, it's not really about the bucks or the coins for me. I built up a stash because I like to feel free to be able to buy whatever I want, not have to worry about whether I can scrape together the coin/bucks for an item or building before it's gone from the store. That happened with the Tea House, and it really ticked me off. It came out before I found the forum, so I was short on space, had no bucks, and was making very little coin; just enough to buy a piece of land once every week or two, and it was getting harder every parcel. The Tea House was 3 million, and I loved it. Didn't help there was suddenly a ninja in my town pestering me for tea at his overpriced abode. So even though I really needed to buy land at the time, I started scraping together the coin for it. Two weeks in, and I had about 2 mil...and they took it out of the store. I *never* complain to companies, because I've always felt like I'd be just a single voice in a storm - so why bother? They get hundreds of nuts whining at them every day. But I did it anyways, and luckily, Booyah was nice enough to put all the Japanese stuff back. I finished hoarding a week later, and had my Tea House, but my God, what a grind. I loathe the very memory. Point is, I am glad to have found the forum and learned how to make a LOT of coin and bucks if I need them, so I never have to feel that way again. e.e
As for the way I am currently decorated, I keep my snowglobes out in Coruscant because I don't have anything I want to put there, and also because I am suspicious of the coming update, and feel the need to hoard so I do not get unpleasantly surprised by a jack in prices. That screencap from the app store of a business upgrade costing 500 bucks is the source of my paranoia, however ridiculous a reason that may seem. The snowglobes in L'Arc are, and were always planned to be, decorative. That I can shake out 12 billion an hour is more disturbing than useful, because really, what would I do with it?? @.@;
And I continue to play STW because it's fun, and is like a box of chocolates. You never know what you're gonna get. XD
Er, also. Everyone has different reasons for playing the game, and everyone plays differently. Some people are trophy hunters for the game center. Some people want the attention moving up the leaderboards will get them. Some people are collectors and just want to hoard. Personally, I just fart around and decorate my town and watch my ninja and samurai in the hopes of a fight, and when I'm bored of that, STW or newbie hunting, because it feels nice helping people in the position I once was in. It's just a more relaxing game when you don't have to worry about bucks or coins. But yeah, to each his own. o.o;

Kits, exalt to you! Love how you put your ideas about playing the game and how everyone plays for different reasons and in different ways. No wonder our towns all look so different even though we are all using basically the same items and skins. I think personalities show up with this type of game. Those who are laid back, those who are just having fun and those who are serious about being at the top of the leader boards. Such variety! It's pretty easy to get sucked into various aspects of the game though. I think it's interesting how most of us played the game, struggled to build our little towns, gain levels and then came here and found out there were Robin Hoods. It brought another whole perspective to the game. All of a sudden for certain people, there is a challenge to not only play the game but also to help others advance. That it even came to this is amazing...never heard of any game bringing this out in people. Proof that its better to give than receive! Not that receiving isn't pretty cool too when you need to get on with buying and building!

I started playing this game for a different reason. I travel a lot, and I thought it would be cool to build something from each city I was in combined with my hometown favorites. And I did just that, until I hit the 36 business limit I had no idea existed. So I quit for a while, about a week, but missed it too much. When I started playing again, I was simply trying to clear my land...money was a challenge. That is when I found this little group. I mastered the STW, then found the daily buck glitch by mistake and its been uphill from there. I wanted to get on the leader boards, and I did that. Then I wanted to buy all those cool businesses I could never afford before I found this place, and I did that. Then I built the wonders. I then set out to build a cool theme park, I even went as far as to put 6 flags at the entrance and see if any visitors caught the clue. I did that, and that brings me my current state of play. I spent all of last weekend franchising random towns...lower level towns and I franchised every single business. I imagined their surprise when they checked in and got the free bucks and or coins. Would they be thankful? Would they think I was crazy? Now I am back the experiment stage, but I'm having a hard time destroying that theme park I worked so hard on...I guess that's what my camera snapshot is for. Oh and I will spin that darned wheel until I hit the 3 bucks with the cool $ sign inside. Happy building!

I have a similar story to kitsunelady. This game was a HUUUGE grind before I found the forum. However, the sense of accomplishment was also huge.
But I definitely needed something different, and now, not having to worry about bucks and coins anymore, it's like a new game to me. I really appreciate being able to play the game creatively, with no resource problems. The newbie hunting/helping is a bonus. I'm getting almost the same kick out of the game without wasting as much time in the game.
