Data usage

Hello everyone, new guy here!

I recently upgraded to an iphone5 from a Droid Incredible. MyTown2 has become the first mobile game I am absolutely addicted to!

Since upgrading my phone, my data usage has sky rocketed. Currently on this cycle (only two weeks in) I've used 3gb out of my 4 already.

I don't stream videos or music (downloading music only when connected to my WiFi network at home) and will occasionally stream through bluetooth (which I've been told does not use data).

The only app that really gets love from me is MyTown2. Does anyone else notice this app taking a big chunk of data in the background?

It doesn't seem iphone allows me to see which apps are the biggest data hogs.

I've heard from others that the game is a big data user because it is always on - minimized even if you aren't playing it unless you hard close it. I don't actually have a data plan myself. I play on my ipod so I only have the game connected when I'm at home, work or somewhere with free wifi. All other times I play while not connected. I leave home with the game open (and as long as the game doesn't crash), I can still collect coins and decorate - I just can't visit other towns or my getaways.

For my cell phone, my mobile company lets me login to a website to do online account management and data monitoring but I don't think it specifies the source of the data use - just how much is being used and what days it spikes.

I only have a cell plan - no home Internet - I play 3 games and this forum - I had to upgrade twice on plan to get enough coverage so that I wasn't paying high overage charges -

The basic plan of 3G barely covered MyTown and forum - often had overage charges at beginning when just using those two!

I have Verizion which gives you unlimited data so it is not something I have to be concerned with. I need to be on the internet for the iPad, however for the phone I try to play it when I am on the internet, only because it drains the battery real fast using the data.

I only play mt2 on my iPod so I only play at home and other places where I can get wifi so this both an advantage and disadvantage

I always hard close it on my iPhone and iPad so it doesnt stay open to use the data and I only try to play it when connected to WiFi otherwise it does drain the battery -
