What is this business Shotgunstina? It is a Tennessee business - it's in my town for a bit - That is a dentist. I was looking for the brewery. I decided to go for Makers Mark until I find the Jack Daniels Brewery. Thanks though

I am looking for some businesses that have a name that would look good in a beach or lake town. For example "The Beachside Grill" or like a bait or camping store for the lake? Any suggestions?

Thanks to Snibull and Konstatin for franchising me. I'll pay others in kind. I'm still looking for offices worth 20 bucks or less to franchise. My info should be in signature. But just in case..Booyah ID 49845057 Phu's Town, Level 60.

Phu, Is there any specific criteria are you looking for? Location? Business Name? A business that costs 20 bucks to franchise would be a business with very low popularity so there are 1000's of them all over the world. Or a business that is just over the 200 mile mark from your location. It is hard to even know where to start suggesting businesses for you. If you are looking for more bucks then you need a business with 3500+ popularity. That will get you the max 50 bucks when franchised by someone over 200 miles away from your business. If you have a healthy coin supply then you could consider doing a coin franchise instead then you could get a business with higher popularity. Any business can franchised for coins if it is within 200 miles of your location. And you can change locations if your real location doesn't have good options. Check out this list of businesses. Any business you get can be remodelled to the office skin.

Thanks for the reply Fleetwood. I was trying to franchise using bucks to get bucks in return, as my understanding is that is how it goes. I was primarily looking at NYC and San Fran as I'd lived in those two cities before. That being said, franchising some of the bigger, higher pop businesses requires big bucks, which I don't have yet. I'd like to get a few of the known businesses (e.g., Yankee Stadium) but know that they are out of my reach for now.
I'd read some of the message threads, but am not sure if I doing it right. The way I'm playing is buying/ franchising things that are close and of sentimental value. But am open to buying/ franchising businesses to get more bucks and higher population. Any advice would be welcomed and appreciated.

It is not wrong to have sentimental businesses and low population businesses but they won’t help you much as a strategy to get coins, clear land or get bucks.
Have a mixture. Include a few sentimental businesses. Have the most popular businesses in your real city because they are great for coin franchises and do really well for coin income. Then get at least a few businesses with popularity over 3500. If you have a 3500 business then you can get the 50 buck max when they are franchised. Remember that you do not have to spend bucks to get to get those popular businesses - you can change playing locations and get them for coins. And you can also get those sentimental businesses you remember from living there while you are visiting.
You want businesses that will make you an attractive franchise prospect from your local city market, other players changing location and from the robin hoods. The more your businesses get franchised - both coin and buck - the more income they earn.
When I was growing my businesses and clearing my land, I didn't have any businesses under 100 popularity - my lowest was 200 and that was my sentimental business. Businesses 700-2500 (the popular businesses in my real city). Then the 3500+ businesses. And I only used coins to get my businesses from cities all around the world.
In spending 20 bucks to franchise a business, you are giving the other player 2 bucks. And there's no guarantee that the other player will franchise you back. And you won't get much from a Robin Hood visit on that business. You can offer them more by gifting a buck everyday. I would only do a 20 buck franchise if you have an attachment to that particular business. I would wait until your buck supply is stronger before you start offering micro franchising and giving a lot of bucks away.

I thought I posted this before, but perhaps in the wrong thread. If so, I apologize for the double post. I've now got a good stash of gold, and am looking to populate my town with businesses that are actually there (Westfield Indiana, a suburb of Indianapolis). As expected, all of the local businesses have low pops. We do have a lot of chains, and I'd like to mix high population (2500+) of a chain. I've been able to franchise Walmart, Starbucks, McDonalds and Best Buy, but am looking for more so my pop doesn't completely disappear when I drop my largest foreign businesses. Specifically Target, Kohls, Petsmart, Kroger, Subway, Wendy's, Arbys, Hallmark, The Gap or BP, but any suggestions are welcome.
Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

We could find those businesses you mentioned but finding them with a high popularity is almost an impossible quest. Once you get over the 2500 mark the pool of businesses worldwide starts getting smaller and smaller. The major cities in the game will be the most likely source to find the businesses you are looking for with a decent popularity. If anywhere, New York city would probably be the most likely but I'm not sure if we could find any higher than 1000 popularity for those businesses even in NYC. I'm at work right now so I don't have time to really research but I can do some searching when I get home tonight. Of the ones on your list the Subway is the most likely but I had really have to look to see if I could find one with a popularity over 1000 (so far I found one in New York with a popularity of 545). Some other chains in the game that do have some popularity: Dunkin Donuts (Boston) - popularity of 1500 Dominos Pizza (NYC) Apple Store (San Francisco)

On a related note: Most of the time my population and popularity get higher as time and events go by. However, for reasons I can't figure out yet, sometimes they drop. These might be due to a predictable/predictable bug, done on purpose by design using log rhythms, or who knows. If you (anyone) knows, please tell us.
