Is there an existing thread about this?
I have 10 little ol' plots of land left to clear, the more I clear the faster I want the remainder cleared! Which I'm doing thanks to the generosity of the members here.
But I'm thinking, once I've cleared them all I'm going to be stuck with a lot of houses and housing wonders. The level 75 towns I've visited all look great, what I want to know is did they take time or was 'redecorating' quite a mission? If it was are there any tips? I'd hate to clear out all my houses and wonders initially to find out that was a bad move....

I remember clearing my land after the stock exchange era. I cleared my land after I built up enough coins then my land was so empty. I did have fun putting my town back together though. And now, when I get tired of it, I clear it again and put it back together. Redecorating is what I like to do. It does take time, have fun with it

Hey Iron
I don't really have any great strategy to reveal, but I can talk from my own experience, and that's the key; it's very individual. I guess it's about playing around with things while you learn what you want. Some things to consider might be: - do you want it to look like a real town? - do you want to keep making big coin numbers, so do you need wonders? - do you want to have the maximum number of businesses for popularity, or are you happy to drop some? - do you want 'themes' like a zoo or a carnival area, or areas that represent the East? - do you like lots of roads and parks?
Once you have some ideas, use your storage while you decorate. I would suggest moving some bigger key pieces into place, then placing a few things around them, then store the big thing. That way you have some clear space all the time to move pieces in and out of. I placed my roads early on to divide up areas, like housing and business and town centre, but be prepared to move them a lot as you play around.
Finally, my key piece of advice would be to have fun with it, and remember that nothing is permanent - you will change your mind 100 times!!

The one thing I recall was having a feeling of "enough" coins. Once I got to that point, I started deleting things that really didn't make sense - the restaurant wonder, the stock exchanges, the condos, etc... It was really a sense of relief to be able to "build it" the way I wanted to and not needed to.
Not sure if this makes sense, but just enjoy your town...
Edit- nice reply kiwi!

Thanks guys.
So following your advice I'm thinking I'll keep earning for a while after clearing the land, and build up a stash of coins. Then get to work on my little 'Christchurch' with a touch of London Soho thrown in.

Hey Ironcoast, When I started to get close to having all land cleared I would put my businesses back to their original skins and see what my town looked liked. When I wanted to make coin back to businesses it was really hard to sell all my stock exchanges but I finally did. LOL. I am still rearranging my town. First I wanted all the Hard Rocks from around the world, then it was all the Starbucks I could find. Now I want a jungle. You see as newzealander says you will change your mind 1000 times. It's fun.

Hey Iron, All great advice above. We're all different but still get good results. Personally, I also had a hard time selling my money makers. My town was full of condos and ND's. make sure you have plenty of coins and bucks. I stored and crowded stuff all over my town while I started remodeling one area at a time. Once i considered one area "done" and to my liking, I started on another area. It's not easy but it is FUN! When you decide to make the move....enjoy! Let us know when you do it so we can see. BTW, I've already changed it twice! ;D

Thanks, looking forward to redecorating.
In the big push to clear all my land I've filled my beach with stock exchanges and re-skinned all my businesses to offices. Should have done it ages ago, but the town is looking rather ugly. Still, not for much longer.

"Welcome to the jungle"!
Well, I've cleared my land and after countless hours have completely redecorated. It doesn't look anything like how I first thought it might, and I do seem to have bankrupted my bucks in the process!
Please feel free to drop by, the only thing I'm missing is a fish and chip shop.
