Heal / Hurt: Last Member Standing Sign-Ups
Overview
So what is this all about? Well, basically you guys sign up to compete against one another in a "battle to the death" where you start at 20 life points. You and all other members (no guests) can cast one vote every round to "heal" one contestant and "hurt" another contestant. The ratio starts out at +1/-2 (heals add 1 pt, hurts take away 2 pts). However, part of the fun is that the ratios change every round and are never the same for any two rounds. Rounds last 4 hours, then tallies are made, "dead" contestants are dropped, and a new round begins. Eventually we're down to just 1 contestant and we crown them the winner.
I can tell you I didn't create this game but I did develop it, and in its later forms, with well over ten bonuses that players can earn through "kills," the game and the math gets exceedingly complex. For this first outing, we won't use any bonuses and just stick to the basics of the game.
Rules
1. Contestants must sign up to participate against one another in a last-man-standing competition. The contest is open to the entire community.
2. Each contestant starts with 20 life points. Players may be healed beyond 20 life points.
3. There will be as many rounds as it takes to complete the competition. All members of the community, including contestants, are permitted to vote to heal and hurt participants (they must do both) once during a single round, and then may vote again when the new round starts. I.e. Heal: Person A, Hurt: Person B. Contestants may not vote for themselves.
4. The rounds will take place 4 times daily. The first round starts at 10am EST, the second at 2pm EST, the third at 6pm EST, and the fourth at 10pm EST. There is then a 12-hour break in between rounds. Typically, the event will last 2 full days.
5. The heal / hurt ratio begins at +1/-2. However, it is subject to change every round. It may be +2/-3, +1/-4, +3/-5 or any ratio that the moderator sees fit to fix. It is possible that in some rounds heal might be stronger than hurt.
6. Votes may not be split between two contestants. You can only vote to heal a single person, and hurt a single other person. Under no circumstances can you ever choose to heal and hurt the same person. Votes that do not conform will not be counted.
7. When voting, list specifically the identity of the poster you wish to heal or hurt. Nicknames are allowed, but obscure references will be ignored.
8. A contestant who is knocked down to 0 life points or below is considered dead, and cannot be revived. This is determined by the order of the posts and not the time stamp on the posts; thus, it is possible for two posts to arrive at the same second, but for the first to deal a killing blow and the second to miss on a heal, or vice versa (heal arrives before hurt and deprives a player of what otherwise would have been a kill).
9. Ineligible votes (specifying improper heals or hurts) will not be counted. If a vote is partially ineligible, i.e. it specifies at least one proper target and at least one improper target, the entire vote will be discounted. Discretion exists for the moderator to decide whether or not to count any such vote that is edited afterwards to bring it in to compliance with full validity. When the round ends or a round update is posted, no such edited vote may be counted.
10. Current stats will be posted at least once (if not more) during every round, as well as at the beginning of every round. A moderator may come in to correct any players who have posted or otherwise discussed stats that are incorrect.
11. When one person remains, they will be crowned the champion of the event. Second and third place are determined by order of death, as are all other finishes.
12. Prizes are as follows:
--> 1st: your own custom posting title + 15 karma + 6 buck franchises
--> 2nd: 10 karma + 4 buck francises
--> 3rd: 8 karma + 2 buck franchises
--> 4th - 6th: 6 karma + 1 buck franchise
--> 7th - 10th: 4 karma
--> Everybody Else: 2 karma
-------------------
The date has yet to be determined, but it will begin sometime in mid-April (approximately 2-3 weeks from now).
The tentative start date is Thursday, April 12th.
