Just a note to give kudos to this interesting experiment, from a human and game perspective... I haven't had the courage (yet anyway) to change locations, so I can't afford to play with bucks, but I'm following the results with interest. +1
Cheers

Ok, against my better judgement, I upgraded - 2.4.0.39 which iirc is the same as Friday. But it didn't ask and I'm still in Paris. Unless you know how I can change loc without deleting, I will need to return to this tonight. Work net nannies don't allow buoyea so I can't check in for local biz. Sadly, this lone breadwinner must report to work today. *sigh*

Be careful Barracuda you just might upset the popularity monster. Us lowly players should not be messing with popularity. There are probably alarm bells going off in Booyah HQ right now and they are getting ready to unleash the beast in Las Vegas. ;D
Seriously though I am very interested in how this experiment turns out. I have wondered the same thing myself. I had a business that I bought at 0 popularity and built it up to about 800 just by doing jobs and check ins when the monster wiped me out - twice. It seems like it was all for nothing. I hope that is not the case here.

I franchised yesterday at 752 and it is still at 752. I thought the new calculations would make it the same popularity across the board, pending server updates. Appear not to be the case in my case. Weird?

OK, it's up to 1,898! Appears to be working good. BB, I'm going to franchise it 5 times in a row. Can you check to see how much you earn (pretty sure it's 20%) and check to see if they stack? I don't think they do, but we can confirm this. Edit: Franchised 5 times 1 - 1898 - $19,770 2 - 1917 - $19,971 3 - 1937 - $20,172 4 - 1996 - $20,768 5 - 2018 - $20,984

I love this challenge, props to you Barracuda. I always wondered why the casino's and other establishments in Vegas had such low popularity. It's the entertainment capital, right?!

Okay, I just franchised three times. The first time I franchised, pop was at 2216. After the third time I franchised, pop is 2275.
I'm going to check-in and build it up a little to see if that helps.

Wow, this is really insane. I'm going to make a post in the main chat about this to see if we can bring aboard more people. My personal popularity for New York, NY is currently sitting at 1608. However, the actual popularity as viewed across the board has risen up to 2,392!!! We are making a major difference, and if we keep it up and increase it, we should be on par to raise this property all the way to 20,000 in a week. That is, if the popularity monster doesn't strike us down first. As far as the multiple franchises go, I think all of them are being counted towards the overall popularity but the system is imperfect and sometimes they don't all show up for the original owner. For instance, today from Racletopolis I got a total of 4 franchises (3 of them in a row) and from Clement Hills I got 3 in a row and just now received a 4th. However, for Solsville and Durpwood, I only received 1 franchise even though each of them said they sent 5. It might be better therefore to spread out the franchises a bit more. Regardless of whether I'm able to count them, the system sure is seeing it. I'm returning all the gifts at the moment, but the "portal system" (which links a franchiser to the franchisees town from property stats) is a little wonky. Because so many users are sending over a short period of time, some are not showing up in the portal, or the portal is sending me to the wrong town. If you franchised and don't get a gift by tonight, just send me a PM with your town name and ID tonight and I'll take care of it. Also, if you did multiple franchises and only got a single gift, let me know. Definitely a cool experiment and I appreciate the help. We're up almost 2,000 pts in under 24 hours and we can definitely go a lot further with a combination of re-franchising and check-ins. Feel free to PM me with any questions.

Apparently your strategy is working. When I tried to franchise, the cost was 86 bucks and the popularity was 2425.

Apparently your strategy is working. When I tried to franchise, the cost was 86 bucks and the popularity was 2425. Yeah, it's moving up pretty fast. Announced this in the main thread, but I'll add it here and to the main post. If it costs you over 50 green bucks just to franchise the property and you want to play, send me a PM and tell me how much you spent. I'll cover the costs accordingly, up to 250 green bucks. Thanks.

BB, Thinking I'm going to just keep ny-ny, I don't know how much it would cost to re-franchise. It cost around 12 to 14 Bucks when it was a low pop. Pop is at 2718 now.

Interesting experiment. I purchased it at 2690 pop. I changed locations to Las Vegas so I could franchise it in coins - cost me just over 27,000 coins.

Getting ready to sell it and franchise it again. My pop is sitting at 536 Got it up to Level 4 within hours of franchising last night. But - this is great. Since upgrading - this game has been a snoozefest...so this is actually fun now! And thanks for the bucks franchise!!!! T

Weird? Likewise I franchised it this am and built it up to 1373 pop by 7 am.. It sat all day and is still at 1373.. So apparently any activity from others during the day had no impact on my biz... If this is always the case, then what advantage would there be to build the biz up to higher levels after franchising? Or, is just franchising from BB over and over the only way to COLLECTIVELY build its pop as fast as possible?
