I'm on a question to increase the popularity of Las Vegas's New York New York hotel & casino well into the 4 digits. As you all know, there are 3 main ways to increase popularity of a property:
1) Checking in to the property (+1 popularity) 2) Doing jobs on the property (+1 popularity for every 3 jobs) 3) Having the property franchised by somebody else (+20 popularity)
My town (Barracuda Bay, Booyah ID below) has a Las Vegas section and currently the only extremely popular property available for that area (that isn't a restaurant) is Caesar's Palace. I've helped raise the current popularity of New York New York (one of my favorite casinos) to about 525 through jobs and check-ins (it began at under 100 popularity).
Thanks to Booyah's fixing of the popularity, and the fact that all mayors who own this property are now jointly influencing the level shifting, the time is ripe to raise up New York New York to astronomical levels. Join me in this group effort to catapult the casino up with the ranks of the big boys and EARN SOME GREEN BUCKS in the process.
For every person who franchises New York, New York from my town in coins (you can do it in bucks if you can afford it), I will provide a maximum green buck franchise immediately upon receipt of the +20 popularity. YOU CAN FRANCHISE, DELETE, AND THEN RE-FRANCHISE several times a day. If you send them in a row, they will all stack on the property and be added as I collect them (they do not replace each other). I will give a buck franchise each time you do this, up to a maximum of 5 buck franchises per day.
This event will go on for just over 1 week, beginning tonight and ending at midnight on Wednesday, May 29th. The more you franchise New York, New York the more bucks you will earn.
BONUS: The person who gives New York New York the most franchises within the week will earn either a buck franchise per day for the entire month of June or else a population gift every day for all of June (send me a message by PM telling me which one you want if you are declared the winner). Yes, I will be keeping strict records on this.
ADDITIONAL BONUS: Franchise New York at least once a day for every full day of the event (Tuesday the 22nd to Tuesday the 29th), and receive 5 more green buck franchises at the end of the event.
ONE MORE BONUS!!!: If you franchise the New York, New York property and KEEP IT after the event is over, I will give a special price to be announced later. You must have the property upgraded at least to Level 5 by the end of the event to be eligible. I'll discuss this more as we get to the end.
Let's make some history and maybe even beat out Caesar's Palace! COMMUNITY POWER!
Every day, I will post the updated popularity for the New York New York casino as of 11:59pm:
Starting popularity upon announcement: 524
Monday, 05/21 -> 710 Tuesday, 05/22 -> 6,253 Wednesday, 05/23 -> 13,067 Thursday, 05/24 -> 31,646 Friday, 05/25 -> 44,760 Saturday, 05/26 -> 62,211 Sunday, 05/27 -> 67,782 Monday, 05/28 -> 70,048 Tuesday, 05/29 -> 79,120
Let the games begin...
NOTE: If you don't live near Las Vegas and have never switched locations before, you can still participate and buy the property for coins instead of bucks. Simply close out My Town 2, go to Settings, turn off your location services, then re-log onto My Town 2. The game will ask you to manually imput your location. Choose "Las Vegas," and then return to Barracuda Bay. Now you can franchise and/or buy New York New York in coins (and ditto for the other casinos). Turn your location services back on, and your original settings will be restored upon restarting the game.
ADDITIONAL NOTE: Max green buck franchises have been capped at 5 per day. However, please feel free to re-franchise as often as possible to help the cause if you can do so easily in coins.

Questions: if I franchise, you get 20 pts rt away? Do you get anything when it finishes building? If the franchise is sold b4 it completes, do you still keep the points? Here's why I ask. If I franchise today and then delete tmw morning and then franchise again tmw night and so on, seems like it gets you a lot more points... Coz it would take days not hours to get to level 5 I would think. If I franchise with coins, it doesn't make a difference to me, buy daily or maybe 4-5 jobs + 1 check-in a day. Does gifting change pop at all? I still have not upgraded yet. Was waiting for we'd hoping they get pop crashes fixed.

Need some tutelage here.... I have franchised NY NY as you asked, but if I delete it and refranchise it again, does that not just undo the popularity that my first franchise did? I'm still learning about this franchising stuff and want to be sure that whatever I do helps the cause.

Have franchised. Not upgraded yet either, not sure if/how that will affect things for the pop. I have done a couple of check ins and have them working on 3 minute cycles, down to 1.5 with the power ups. Could not use coins as haven't had time to read the tutelage on the whole location shifting, beyond the first one, so I switch between Wellinton, New Zealand and Paris and local Beijing when I am set to 'home'. How all these things play into the overall effectiveness of my franchise I am not sure, but will work on getting o level 5 as soon as my wee fingers are able.
Off to get those lazy sods back to work...
If you are looking for NY NY it is wearing the casino skin in my entertainment area. ;D
(watch out for aliens)
Edit: it is sitting on 576 pop in my town, if that is of interest.
Thanks, got the franchise back ;D. Quick work.

BB, thanks got the Franchise. I have a question, my n.y- n.y. Is at 723, choco's is at 1075 and yours is at 709, shouldn't they all be the same population?

So far 9 people have participated and every one of them has gotten a 50 green buck franchise from me!
It's working, guys. Thanks to everyone's help so far, the current popularity of New York, New York hotel & casino is at 860 at the moment, and going up!
The goal here is to try and get the total popularity to reach about 9,000 or so in order to topple Caesar's Palace as the #1 property in Las Vegas. Mind you, New York New York was a property I originally had to buy from Booyah because it was so obscure that after checking through about 50 or so Las Vegas towns, I was unable to find it available for franchise. Mind you, this is a Las Vegas casino with a freaking rollercoaster on top of it that is named after the most famous city in the world. It's a really cool place.
The thought is, can the power of the community cause a property with an original popularity of about 80 to skyrocket to the #1 property spot, so that players everywhere will see it as valuable and desirable and want it in their town? Moreover, if it reaches a high enough popularity, will enough people independently franchise it and keep its popularity up when the event is over?
Interesting questions.
I am making a few adjustments to the event (edited on main post). Since we got off to a late start on Monday, we'll end it on Wednesday at 12am.
Also, the 5 green buck franchises will be awarded to anybody who franchises New York New York during each full day of the event, which will therefore be effective from Tuesday 12am up until the end of the following Tuesday.
YES, you can delete the property and re-franchise as far as I know. Booyah changed the popularity rules after the recent update to homogenize the popularity levels across the board (so at any time anyone who franchises a property gains the current popularity and their actions benefit everyone else who owns the property rather than just themselves). There was also a glitch where players who had franchised at a high popularity kept that high number while future franchisees were stuck getting it at a far lower number which represented the average across the board. This also was removed. Now there's one number for every property, and it keeps changing based on player actions.
Probably the best bet is for anyone playing to delete and re-franchise New York New York at least once a day. Any check-ins or jobs done on the property will certainly benefit the cause.
At the end, I will give a special (as yet undetermined) bonus to anybody who ultimately keeps the property after the contest ends and has it upgraded to at least Level 5. This will be an honor system and you'll have to message me to tell me if you're keeping it to get the bonus.

Does gifting change pop at all? I still have not upgraded yet. Was waiting for we'd hoping they get pop crashes fixed. I can answer these. If you franchise and I collect it, I automatically get the 20 points. I don't get anything when it finishes building. If franchise is sold before building is completed, I still keep the 20 pts. Gifting does not change the popularity. Neither does upgrading the property although it does add to the amount you collect on the jobs for yourself, and it benefits the revenue earned by the original owner. I am not sure if franchising, then deleting, then re-franchising again prior to collection of the first franchise stops giving popularity points due to a replacement of the original franchise. Someone may have to be the guinea pig there. They've been changing rules on us lately. I will personally credit people for any franchise I am able to collect. If you send multiple franchises in a row, lemme know and I will tell if I am able to receive them. BB, thanks got the Franchise. I have a question, my n.y- n.y. Is at 723, choco's is at 1075 and yours is at 709, shouldn't they all be the same population? Yes, they should be. I think it takes the system a bit of time to update properly. If all of us are doing different things, the numbers are certainly going to shift. I don't know when the game server updates to homogenize, but it does happen. That's why our property popularities are always moving up and down even when we aren't playing. The system has to process and make corrections taking into account all of these actions by the other owners.

Am now at 80 check-in on completing level 5, so my question is this. Does it help more to keep checking in or when I complete this level is it best to delete, refranchise and build up to level 5 again? I am still showing a popularity of 550 on this so it has not moved much. Give me direction on how best we can build this up. When I lived in Vegas I used to go to nyny just for the roller coaster...and to wander ti casino and laugh at all the fun stuff the displayed in the fake apartment windows. It was a cheap way to enjoy the place.

AMAZING. Let's keep it up!

Check my town and see what number comes up. I checked Arizona Bay, Stars Hollow, 777Bonnie777 & Racletopolis. Same value showed up every time. If you are looking at your own town, the number is definitely going to be different and will only reflect what you've personally added. But when you go to any other town with that property, it will show the actual number that reflects everybody's contribution. I am not sure at what point the server will update so that your town shows the right number, but supposedly after last update it will happen at some point. EDIT: Just to clarify, yes, you can leave multiple franchises a day, they don't replace each other, and they do in fact add onto the overall popularity.

On my town I'm showing 1189 personally, but the overall popularity reflected in other towns is 1403 at the moment.
Lots of re-franchising (thinking probably 3-7) throughout the day is probably a very smart move for the group, followed by jobs / check-ins to bolster the overall count.
One thing is abundantly clear, this works and we've made remarkable progress. I'll be continuing to give out more and more buck franchises for participants!

Ok.. So I've franchised twice which shouldve brought you 40 pop total (if it didnt, please let me know). Question is, with the recent changes you mentioned in your original post, Wouldn't this affect everyone else's pop on that biz, Or do they need to refranchise from you? Same goes for job/checkins from others - will they benefit everyone's biz across the board? I'll be gone in about 2 hrs, be back at 5pm - when I return, I'll see how much my pop has changed and compare it to everyone else.
Edit.. My apologies, didn't see your above post, we were probably typing simultaneously

Choco, I checked yours and it says 1238,BB's is showing 1237 and mine is 724. Weird. Oh well I will keep cracking the whip on the employees. It's obviously making a difference. I cannot afford to multiple franchise as I have to work in bucks, so I will keep it and get it as high as I can.

One way to affect the popularity after the popularity crash.
