I was looking for a reference list of the housing costs and gains, and couldn't find one. So I'm putting what I have up here. Help has been gained from other members. This list includes what is currently available as of Apr '12.

Edit: May 2012: rent has changed on a number of items. Recent amounts are in bold; old amount in normal. Sizes and appearances haven't changed. Population/cost don't appear to have changed either. Again, please note I've not got everything, so please post your own data and note if you've the cathedral or not.

Edited for licat's additions. Still missing info on barracks. And I am convinced the high rise apartments get $300/hour. Two stacks of coins from each.

TIP: to check how much your houses give raw, move your wonders to storage, then do the one hour time trick to get the figures, then move them back after you're done. That's how i was able to confirm the new houses without calculating my wonders. No maths!

The high rise condo seems to give more than the Tudor house. I've been getting $300 per hour on the high rise condos, and keep finding it weird that it's so high. That can't be right, can it? So really if you're going to maximize hourly income, that one is the way to go.

That said, I find the Tudor is more attractive, and I like the look of more-Tudor towns. I think it more closely resembles uk towns. I suppose the price of all that income from the high rise condo is its ugliness. That, and its lower population count.

Edit: this technique is also better if you're in a low population area where it's hard to find popular businesses. I think most people make their money through businesses, but if you've got rubbish choice of businesses, the housing will certainly help increase income.

Current average house price here (all England) is £160,372 ($251,067) down 0.6% since last year (from Land Registry). Comparing Leeds (for obvious reasons) with the South East of England (where the highest prices (excluding that London) tend to be) we have £126,708 ($198,511) in Leeds and £206,918 ($324,175) in the South East. Average price in Kensington & Chelsea (swish part of that London) is £983,842 ($1,541,371), although there are places which cost in excess of £20m in Belgravia (I think).

Has rent gone up with the past update, or is it my imagination?

I have the cathedral, but I had it before, too and I accounted for it in my table above.

Victorian house = $60 (w/o bonus = $50)
Tudor house = $300 (w/o bonus = $250)
High rise condo = $480 (w/o bonus = $400)

And a couple of the new ones...

Modern lofts = $420 (w/o bonus = $350)
European flats = $420 (w/o bonus = $350)

Is this right? It may have taken me a while o notice what with the shaky shaky gift last weekend.

skyton: I agree, it does appear revenue has changed. But from what I can tell, it isn't an even change: some have gone up, down and unchanged. Working on updating the list.

Makes one wonder what is going on, doesn't it?

Some updates made to list in op. Please add your own data, especially for ones that are expensive or require bucks.

Some observations, not everything has changed. So far, the bucks housings haven't increased, but most of the coins housing has. This may have changed the value of some buildings. High rise apartments still give the most income, but the other high-value buildings are very competitive.

I also got some strange numbers on a couple of them. The cathedral gives 20% bonus, and the Dutch house gives me $43, which comes out to a base of $35.833. The Condo gives me $136, the base value of which is $113.333. So I'm curious as to what the base amount is for people without cathedrals. All other numbers came out even, so I assume the cathedral bonus hasn't changed.

It's interesting to see that some buildings quite clearly give either rent or population but not both, even at the higher levels.

The VIP mansion isn't available on my housing store, so I hadn't included it. It does seem to be on licat's list (about the 3rd reply on page 1) listed as Mansion VIP.

Edit: although, that was before the rent changes. So the rent may not be accurate. Most rents are either the same or more than they were first reported.
