Yes! Ive got lots of building going on thanks to you! That was fun and I'm excited to see how it turns out. I got so carried away I bought every one of them. I just answered your PM stating the same thing. I can't thank you enough for your help!

Help!
Ok... So I've mastered the STW and have quite a few thousand bucks (can't believe I didn't discover this forum earlier) and most of my businesses are over the 10000 popularity mark, but I've started spotting businesses in the 100,000+ and I'm baffled! How are people buying these? They normally cost 100000+ bucks too... Even with the stw bonuses that'd take me an age to collect! I can only assume that there's a trick I'm missing. I know to look out for businesses that are going to boom but being out in the sticks means I normally spot them too late. I've got NASA, which I thought would be hugely popular but it's remained low?
Help from gurus wanted.
Also, once I discover how to buy them I'm going to want to know where all the 100,000+ pop businesses are hiding. So lay 'em on me!
Xxx

Snibull, just attempted the Booyatopia/Airplane mode trick and noticed I don't have Booyatopia? I have version 4.0.... Or 4.1.... Did they change that or just delete it all together? Thanks

Snibull, just attempted the Booyatopia/Airplane mode trick and noticed I don't have Booyatopia? I have version 4.0.... Or 4.1.... Did they change that or just delete it all together? Thanks Sorry Frosty, they have removed Booyahtopia all together. It appears the airplane mode trick will work if you go into someone's town with Booyahtopia businesses and he/she hasn't upgraded yet, though.

Ok, just switched to airplane mode and then went to business search. Lots of big name properties for $5 each. I bought half a dozen of them and upgraded them all to level 5 (thank you again Amstel, wouldnt have been possible without u) but noticed in their stats that the popularity was like 25? WTF? I hope I didn't buy a bunch of crap!

I hope I didn't buy a bunch of crap! Hey there i have a bunch of high pops (very early bootopia)my super high pops are at the top of the screen. These do not seem to be affected by the pop monster and can be purchased with coin if you switch location to San Francisco. The others (not at the top) fluctuate and are at different locations.

Just a word of caution--if you find a business with a popularity number that is unbelievably huge, I would be leery of it. Not that this is the only reason, but it is very likely (but not 100% true) there was some kind of file manipulation, jail-broken device, etc. Because it is basically an artificially made popularity value, it will very likely drop. This is not always the case! I have a bunch that can be purchased with coin that have not dropped. But the most I would agree have been manipulated and will drop. You can tell if it has a bad hack by clicking on the business in the main window then checking its pop in the stats window, if the stats window is low then the hack is not set to the server. Pop monster theory. The pop monster is a funny thing and it is really the strain that counts. Think of it like a tree, the closer you get to the root ( first instance of franchise) the less likely it is to fluctuate. If you have a franchise that is a branch and people before your franchise delete their businesses, then the branch may break and the pop resets. So if your business is directly after the break then your business will become the root and any franchises after it MAY be affected. Note: MAY as there needs to be multiple breaks for the bug (pop monster). There is also one other fact that affects the pop monster and that is either a server SQL glitch or Booyah tweaking the pop.

I noticed today that sushirrito and new york times dropped under 2k popularity. what the f***! Yer that pop monster is harsh, I have a very early strain of those businesses that was not affected by the resent pop monster activity.

I gave the mytown,ca businesses one last try. Got hit once again today on 2 businesses. So that it is 4 businesses knocked down to 25 from 4 different players hit on 3 separate occasions spread over 9 month period.
I guess at this point the sources I'm getting them from are nowhere near the root.
