The ability to send Gifts to other Mayors was added with the January 19, 2012 update - Gift amount increased from 5 to 10 Jan/2013
What are gifts and how to send them?
To access gifts click Menu on main screen > Social
At midnight of a player's local time, MT2 will automatically allot 10 gifts that are meant to be given away. Sending any gift is free; the sender's coin/buck count will not be reduced.
Gifts cannot be saved up.
Each player may send one gift to one other player each day.
You may not gift yourself.
The kind of gift is based on the level(s) of the recipient has in his/her town.
You may choose one of the following:
Level 1 - Coins
Level 1 - Blue Experience Stars (XP)
Level 3 - Yellow Lightning Bolts (doubles the speed of one job to completion. One 2X lasts for 60 minutes)
Level 6 - Population, +175
Level 9 - Gives one extra Check-in
Level 10 - 1 Green Buck
To send gift click Menu on main screen > Social > Social
Choose "Send Gift" or "Visit" - if you choose visit you can come back to this screen and complete gift giving procedure.
Send Gift > Pop up screen comes up indicating which gifts that particular town can receive (this depends on the level of game that town is at)
Tap on gift of choice and tap on "Send".
Strategies of Gifting
Newer players who are below Level 50 will often want Coins.
Middle level players below Level 50 appreciate Coins or Blue XP Stars.
Players at Level 50 will generally want Population. Bucks are always needed by players once available.
Our Most Generous Players, aka Robin Hoods , will prefer Population. We do have a few RHs that purposely do not have any businesses, you therefore cannot Gift them with anything. In fact, any time you receive help from an RH, be sure to post your Thanks to him/her.
If you are in contact with your Friends, it doesn't hurt to ask first before sending a Gift.
If you want to be gifted Bucks, you must have at least one business at Level 10.
Update July 2012: Accepting gifts and sending Thank you Check in Gift.
To accept gifts click Menu on main screen > Social > Messages
Choices: "Accept All" or Individual town - "Accept"
*** The downside of accepting all your gifts in bulk is that the list of town who sent them can disappear on you very easily and you wont know who sent you gifts!
Tap "Accept" and you have a choice to "Thank" or "Visit" - if you choose visit you can come back to this screen and complete thank you procedure.
Clicking on Thank You is when a Check In Gift is sent to gifting town.
The gifting town then receives a prompt that you got their gift and they tap on accept to recive their Check in!
Visiting the towns is a part of MT2 that offers interest and encourages each player. When someone visits a town, s/he can get ideas how to organize, decorate, and grow their own town.
If you accept gifts by tapping on the gift box on main screen. How will you know which Mayor sent you a gift? When you see and then click the purple gift box, a green dialogue box will appear with the sending Mayor's name along with a 'Visit' button. You must quickly click the 'Visit' button to go to that town. If you don't, the dialogue box vanishes and you will not be able to learn who is the giver.
How do you know what is your gift? With this latest update, it is a bit harder to see as the action is somewhat faster. Blue stars will fly to your upper left hand XP corner, tiny white numbers will go up to your Population counter, and a green Buck will go to your Buck counter.
Do Mayors reciprocate gifts? Yes, everyone tries to reciprocate but may receive more than 10 gifts per day. With the limitation of 10 gifts per Mayor, per day, it is often difficult to immediately reciprocate. Some of us actually list our givers and over time, do eventually return a gift to each person if possible.
