If you stop doing the check-in blitz then it will continue to drop.
There has been a drop of some business but I'm not sure if its because they have been adjusted down or if people are just doing less check-ins on them.
The businesses that we could get from booyatopia for 1 buck before getaways was introduced have really dropped (not the ones with mytown,ca addresses). Because they are not as available and less check-ins are being done on them. And some of the folks that got them are no longer playing. There are also duplicate versions of them available.

Well I finally did it. I updated to the Getaways. I had heard for some time that it would be best to wait and save up some coin before moving. In the meantime I had tried to finish clearing land in my town. Land was up to the high 3k toward the end there. So I got the update and noticed that the cost of the last two plots of land in my original town after the update ended up only being like 1k or something. Kinda of wish I had updated sooner. But then again the changes with the globes are killing me now, getting so much less for houses. Anyway this may sound dumb but I am still after reading old posts confused about the globes/ND effect. Do they work at all? Are they worth keeping around? They only work in the city/beach that they are put into?
I guess I have a decent split between how much the town space and wonders devoted work toward businesses and to housing. And I am not sure where to start putting more energy and money into as far as building up (such as more/better houses or better businesses) Does that make sense to anyone?! Anyone have a similar dilemma after the update?

The globes do not compound with Getaways. Your housing still makes more income by having multiple globes but nothing compared to the old version. The way it works with Getaways is that you get a % for each house you have then they add together for each globe you have. They will work for all of your getaways so you can put them in your beach and they will impact the lake and main town.
Not sure how much of a stockpile you developed before you switched. What strategy you go for depends on how much coinage you built up and how much land you still have to clear in your getaways.

Let me apologize upfront. I can't seem to figure out how the search function wants its keywords well enough to ever find what I'm searching for. I'm sure this has been answered before.
Is 40 businesses the top limit number of businesses one can own at a time?
Whatever the limit, can you put a business in storage to make room for another business if you are topped out?
and...
If your population decreases below the necessary amount to support the number of businesses you own, does a business (or more) become inactive until you bring your population back up? Sub-question: if a business is inactivated or put in storage, do you need to start back at level one or do you keep the levels that business previously earned?
I do hope these questions (especially the third) are not too confusing. ;D

40- is the max for businesses.
If you have 40 businesses and say you put 2 in storage, you can buy an additional 2 business’s; however you can only have 40 out in the town at one time. (This is good for people who franchise. If you have a lot of businesses and want to franchise someone, you can put some in storage. The only issue is even if you own the business and it is in storage, you cannot franchise the same business. It will tell you that you own it already.)
If your population decreases, a business doesn’t become inactive, however if you have 39 businesses and the pop drops below the amount it should be, you wouldn’t be allowed to buy the next business until you bring the pop back up again.

In my experience, the businesses that are in my storage do not lose the level they are at when I re-place them in my town. I'm not sure on the max number of businesses you can have actively collecting coins in your town, but the businesses in my storage do not count as "active"... I've stored some (like sentimentals) for a while with no problem - way over the limit allowed you can have "active"... Sub-answer: My Getaways businesses seem to count as "active" businesses, even though I can't see them in my main town... Population questions I cannot answer... sorry! HTH!

WOW! I got my points across. Thanks for the quick and rather nice answers. They are helpful. Does anyone know how much population you need to support 40 businesses? I ask this because I would not mind selling off some of my things because I only got them to squeeze in a few more people. Now that I can rid myself of things I never really wanted (actually wanted) I don't want to make the mistake of going below the 40 business support level.

I'm not 100% sure. It was 800 000 something when the max was 36 businesses and my pop was way beyond the 2 million mark when they increased the max to 40 businesses so I had no trouble getting the extra 4. You can always keep the the upgradeable community buildings in you back pocket. Just remodel them but only pay to upgrade them if you need the extra population fast.
Maybe someone else can give us the actual level?

If you grabbed the book nearest to you, turned to page 18, and located line 4, would you be better off?

I have a question on the Internet wonder, is it shorting us coins? I added up my businesses what the should give me for 3 min and it was over 1500 coins, yet the Internet is only giving me 1000? Does anyone have this issue?

I've noticed while doing blitzing I can collect different amounts for different rounds. I think some of this is because I'm collecting rent during some rounds and none or not so much rent on others. I have noticed after the 1k coin amounts, all answers are either exactly in thousands, or the answer is rounded to the nearest thousands when telling me how much I will collect. If it is rounding, I'm sure some are rounding up and others down. As the collection amount changes, the posted to collect amount would not change until it hit another rounding up or down point.
I'm just guessing and my sums are different as well. My short answer; I don't think I"m being held back or losing coins because I'm using the Wonder. Others might like to chime in with their experiences.

Hey does anyone happen to know on the 3rd get away, not the beach one, on the steamboat puzzle piece item? I'm looking for what opens the second piece, on the second slot over coming from the right side? When I tap it, it says build homes for a hint, but iv built everything 3 times by now and have over 100 on every other piece. I just can't seem to find what opens that piece up? It's taking me way to long I want that dam steam boat!

The last piece said "Expand ". I have bought every bit of land on my beach, plus both other places and I still need that last puzzle piece. And when I click on it, it still tells me to "Expand"!!

I still don't have the steamboat or the sandcastle. I feel your frustration. I have build over a hundred houses and expanded to every piece of land, but nothing. I know that isn't alot of help, but just wanted you to know that you are not alone.

I have built tons of houses and still need 2 puzzle pieces for the pirate ship at the beach and 1 piece for the steamboat at the lake. Very frustrating.

Every once in awhile a skin off of a business will disapear. All I am left with is a gray piece of property with some people standing on it. So far, several hours later the skin is back. Does this happen to anyone else? Can others franchise me when this is happening?
