I won't lie, it does require a leap of faith to delete and reinstall and I didn't do it until about 2 weeks after first learning of the trick. However, I have done it a few times since then and convinced many to join in on the trick. None have returned unsuccessful. Just beware the few caveats and you will be fine to rinse and repeat.
Sometimes the greater good requires that you have faith that those who steer you to take the plunge have full confidence that you will land squarely on your feet.
Best of luck, Sir.

OK, I tried it. It worked! However, Jayegirl is right - after installing, it does bring you back in time a bit.
It seems like it restores your town to the last time you LOG IN to your town.
I did the location change from Paris to Los Angeles. But my Bucks and Coins were the amount from the last time I logged in. My jobs were completed, but uncollected. The Spin to Win was reset, so I was able to get my Free Spins again. One business that was upgraded to Level 4 had to be reupgraded.
So, I guess the key is to do your location changes right after a fresh LOG-IN, BEFORE making any changes to your town.
Booyah probably made this change as a safety net for people losing their towns.

And don't do it after getting franchises either. I guess you need to quit and reload once more before changing locations to save the franchises.

Exactly, zanibar! Basically, you have to be at a point where you are willing to lose your progress. So a fresh log-in with no franchises, etc. is best.

So I went ahead and took that leap of faith. Waited until I was logged in and backed up and off I went. And all worked fine. Reckon I lost about 100 bucks and one million coins somewhere but that was a small price to pay for what I gained. So all still works ok after the new update. Thanks for the advice BB, and exaltations to you sir!

The location change trick isn't working for me. I've done it 3 times now to the instructions and each time I'm getting reverted back. Is it possible Booyah chucked out an update today whilst I was doing it?
And yes, I did keep my gamecentre stuff, and I did close and then reload the game to get a load point before deleting the app.
Any ideas people?
Pretty damn annoying as I lost 2 good franchises in the location switch!

If you read through the whole thread you will see tricks for that. If you have correctly changed your location you will be able to kind of trigger your location switch in one of two ways. Either you need check in to a lOcal business or what I do is go up to business search and look at the business in my current location. After I do that I go back to explore and now the users are all near me and waiting to be franchised. Let me know if it works.
Also unless you want to lose progress just wait. I've been waiting to leave Sydney Australia for two days now because I keep getting franchised. I don't know what the time is but I'm going with 24 hours after any franchises/purchases or jobs.

This post was so concise that I had to copy it over...

A while back, if you turned off location services and entered the game, it asked you where you are. Then, you'd just select a city/country and you're set. Well, that little trick is gone now.
Today, there are two locations that My Town 2 knows. The first is the location you set when you first installed and ran the app. Remember that selector that asked for your location? That's your "home" location. The second is your location provided by location services. This is your "roaming" location.
If you turn off location services, the game will default to your "home" location. If you are actually in your "home", then it would match your "roaming" and nothing would be affected.
Some people have uninstalled (keeping the GameCenter data) and reinstalled the app to set a different "home" location. Be warned, though. Some have lost their towns in doing this.

If you completely exit out of the app and have a fresh login then it supposedly saves it but I'm too scared to try that after receiving 300 bucks.

Hmm. I fully exited the app and turned off my phone then turned it back on and deleted/reinstalled the app and I kept franchises from 5 hours ago but lost one from 15 minutes ago. Your best bet is to do the above but wait a few hours first.

I switched my location to San Fransisco CA, I found a town with a building with POP of like 1 million, from how my Iphone made it look, I thought it was going to cost me a little over 2 million gold coins. So for 2 days I save! just finally got enough, go and look and its saying I do not have enough coins...I am guessing the real price is not being shown! now what really has me upset, is after I closed out to look around at more stuff, all the sudden all the CA businesses are wanting bucks, I even went back to the one I just looked at and now it wants bucks too! just my luck lol....
so now I have a little over 2 million gold coins...any suggestions on a location or business I should franchise? I need something good so I can start making coins quickly!! very disappointing after saving all of that. And no Idea why I cant franchise with coins from this location anymore...I have that set as my location and in my settings location services are OFF!

Also try a local to CA business checkin - see if that works.

Dayna, Try to do a checkin just before you go for the business. Make sure your california businesses are close by when you check in. If you changed your location with your location services off, make sure your location service is still off. I hope that helps you
