I had gone to the beach getaway first, which was free. Cleared about half the land and a few plots of water..... Didn't want to pay bucks to clear all tonight, so decided to look at the lake getaway. Yes, it does cost 2,400,000 coins just to visit.
I haven't gone yet. Not crazy about all the grass, weeds, brush, and critters. It'll probably be cold there too. May just stay at the beach awhile, unless I hear the admission goes up at the lake. Might also be interested if I hear they have skiing in the mountains there.

Ok first, the 2nd Getaway costs 50,000 coins. Kiwi - my 2nd getaway cost 2,400,000 to unlock. Can anyone confirm the amount? Is it different for different players?! Mine was 50,000. I unlocked both before I started clearing any land. Not sure if that made a difference.

Hi there, not sure if you meant "visit" literally, but you don't pay every time you go there. The price is to buy the getaway. The price is high... higher than it was for me and some others. I really don't understand why some of the mayors are having to pay such high prices for their second getaway. At any rate, you only pay once to go there. After that it's free. The "visit" button doesn't literally mean visit. The button says the same thing for going back to your main town as well. I guess Booyah just couldn't think of a better word for it. Just wanted to let you know, in case you didn't already. Would hate to see you avoid it for a long time when you could have been the proud owner of a second getaway.

Someone was worried about cheap businesses going. Under Business Search enter a city location on the beach - I've been to San Francisco and Honolulu, and in the search enter beach, and you will still be able to buy $1 businesses with the word Beach in the name.
Sadly you can't franchise me yet, but I have a Hamilton Beach property (my surname) and a beach cafe and bar and there's beach themed hotels such as Coconut Hotel etc. adds a bit of fun.
The fancy beach house doesn't come with any vehicles - I tried putting some road by it.
The mermaid comes with a swimming mermaid and there are some other interesting new characters wandering around my beach now that I've put some houses there.

The geyser at the lake comes with a canoeist.
The windsurfer that one of my beach residents was looking for is available at the lake so you just have to flick to lake in community.
Both the beach and the lake are tooooo small. Why, oh why?

I am convinced that for some the 2nd Getaway is 50,000 coins and for others it is 2,400,000. Does it depend on a your wealth to start with? I am relatively coin rich, but compared to most I am buck poor.
Also, is anyone else having trouble with their main town screen "sticking" in certain positions up near the top of the screen? It won't stay if you pull it down so you can't easily decorate. I remember this problem when I very first got MT2.

36104338 has changed their town name to "I hate this upgrade". I can't remember their original name.

Kiwi - I will gladly post both amounts in the cost of land thread. I defer to the knowledgable ones amongst us, Sni; I am just too scared to admit that maybe I am going senile! But it seems we are getting two different scenarios - very odd!! Do I brave the update?

Who else thinks MT escapes is a bit lame? The new land is to small, why couldnt they let us dredge or build the water? It's not as creative as the main game.. In fact it not very creative programming wise! Ok they have some new items some of which are cool And the new collections are cool But Seriously were is the progress in the game play? You just got to look at the wish list and if you added 40% of it you would have a mind blowing game! Instead they were lazy and overall i think it's a bit of a disappointment Just my two cents.. Ok I will shut up now

Noooo... Missed all the fun because I had some heavy duty gardening to do before the rain arrives... Sure puts a dent in your pocketbook to clear all the land... Haven't had a chance to do much else... Snibull... If you don't retract that bear comment, I may have to embark on a whole new round of bear jokes. Don't say you haven't been warned... But it is nice to have a bear without delerium tremens....

LOL Thanks for helping me save face, Ams. But forget Booyah - I'm more worried that hubby is laying on the floor talking to our baby daughter, explaining to her that Mummy's condition may be genetic so he needs to see if her hand/eye coordination is consistent with her developmental age (!!).
Oh, and....Run, Derek, Run!!

I'm guessing they will let us expand later, but if they do, I hope they drop the coin cost. With regard to size and items available, I think these locations are truly just getaways--escapes from city life. I agree with Kech--the game is fun again.
