Most of what we talk about on here is light-hearted and fun. But behind our silly screen names and avatars we are all real people with real families and real worries. To those on the US East Coast, my thoughts are with you all. Take care of yourselves, and those you love. I wish you a safe 24 hours, and look forward to trading bad jokes with you again as soon as possible. We are miles apart, but a small community, and every member counts

Watching the pictures on CNN today and it was nasty. Stay safe!!

Thinking of Mike, Leilani, Yaneya.
There are a few more members up in that area so thinking of all of you. The coverage shows lots of damage and it doesn't look good.

Toronto is away from the coast but we still had a tonne of rain, power outages and wind damage from Sandy. We didn't get it as bad but at least one death has been been reported from a falling sign.
The news reports on the death were really vague - the woman killed was about my age close and where I live so I had friends calling to check to make sure I was ok.

Thank you all. We made it through the storm pretty well where I am; although, other parts of the state were harder hit. We lost power for a couple hours in the morning, it came back on for a little bit and then was out for another 3 hours which all things considered isn't bad. Some of the coastal roads, river roads and poor drainage areas did have some flooding. We had to go into Boston this morning and we only hit one detour which appeared to be due to downed power lines.
My prayers go out to all of those in the areas that were much harder hit like New York and New Jersey. They're reporting flooding in Manhattan, fires in Queens and I thought I heard something about part of the Atlantic City Boardwalk being ripped up. It's going to take them a long time to recover.

Thanks madmod for posting that!
Leilani! I'm so glad it's over for you! As you said it's going to be a long haul to recoup now!

Thinking of everyone as you start the cleanup. One of my efriends (ex Neopets from years ago) shared on Facebook a live webcam link of Lake Erie, where she lives and it was like a stormy ocean. Hope you and yours are all safe and sound, and that your power isn't out too long! (Because then your batteries will go flat and you can't play!) EHugs

The news was advising people to make sure they had a full tank of gas in case they had to evacuate OR so they could go out to the car and charge their cell phones.

Positive thoughts going out to all those who were affected by Hurricane Sandy! I live very near the Texas coast and have had to ride out more than one of those storms. They can be so, so scary! I hope that none of our members have any damage or loss from this storm.

The devastation looks horrible on the news. My heart sure goes out to those who are displaced with destroyed homes and are facing a huge clean-up. It's overwhelming! Fortunately the death toll is not too high but for those who have lost a loved one I'm sure it seems extremely high! The whole thing is so sad.

I think what hit me the most was the pic of the 3 soldiers standing guard at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. Although it has since been noted it was an older pic, it reminds me of the sacrifices our U.S. military men and women make every day to protect our freedom.
Prayers and well wishes to everyone affected by the perfect storm.
