Caution: Try at your own risk
You can change your location in MyTown2
0. Turn off Location Services in "Settings"
1. Delete the app - after you confirm the deletion, select the "keep" Game Center
2. Redownload MyTown2 App from App Store
3. Go to Menu>Store>Businesses
4. It will ask for your Location. Pick the city you want.
Now, whenever your location services are Off, this will be your default location. You can buy business, franchise with Coins instead of Bucks, etc.
WARNING: If you do this prior to the server updates and saves your game, all progress (bucks, coins, xp earned) since the previous server update will be LOST. You want to do this after a server update or after a period of inactivity (say, when you haven't received franchises for a few hours).

Yes. Same procedure from the 1st post. But just to be on the safe side I'd suggest backing up your devices right before using the procedure.

Great info.
When I go to delete the My Town app it says all its data will be gone is this right? I just dont want to lose my progress.

All the info on your device will be deleted, however your my town 2 will still be ticking away, on the Booyah's server. Make sure you are plugged in with a full charge, and do not let your ipod/ipad/iphone go to sleep at any time.

Thank you for your fast response. I just turned the game off plugged in for the night and went to bed. But before I had done that I turned off location search in general settings. Then went back into my town and did a business search in San Fransisco. Checked my game this morning and all my checkin's are set to San Fransisco area. Pretty sure that has done the trick without deleting.  Thanks! |

Bigdad, Question: Were you able to check in to actual SF businesses? And did you see if you could franchise SF businesses with coins? The reason I ask, is I tried your technique and it appeared to work... but... it listed "generic" SF businesses with 25 popularity and purchase price of 1050 coins. But when I tried to check-in or franchise businesses, it put me back in my default location, New York. Here are some screenshots of what I got:    |

So I got my population up. I was able to purchase high end business. I purchased a salon for 9k coins as opposed to the the cheap ones in the screen shot above. I did a business search and found many good places in SF.

Hey D, Don't know. Just replied to him a couple of minutes ago. I'm going to try it tonight. Apparently his technique is an "overnight" process. I'll know if it works tomorrow morning. |

This might not even be an overnight process. I just keep location search off in my iPhone settings. Then do a business search and select SF and I can franchise for coins. Just franchised sushirrito and the apple store in sf. I was originally set the Manteca ca. I want the give this a try with a new location such as NY.

Bigdad, Question: Was SF the first location outside of your actual location that you tried it on? If so, everyone can do it one time without having to delete the app and reinstall. Or, have you been able to move to 2 or more different locations outside of your actual location? |

I'm not getting the hang of this! I've managed to change the location to New York and hoped I could franchise businesses from friends towns but they are still in bucks?
How do I find the specific businesses that are on the best buy list?

I've noticed that if you do a check-in to a business in that location it will "set the location" for you and you should be able to FRANCHISE in coins. You will NOT be able to BUY in coins. |

An update on changing location to buy Franchises...
I did lots of them yesterday but on updating my Iphone My Town App today I tried it again and everything was in Bucks and when I reloaded the game, the 30 bucks I had been issued previously 'sorry for the inconvenience bucks' were gone. I got them again though, it was as if I had just logged in for the first time after updates. I lost the 'spin' bucks too and had to take my chances and didn't win them the second time lol. However I deleted again as I wanted to get back to my location and I had to spin all over again and won them back.... Phew! So this might not be working now folks.

When I try taking Location Services off my iPad reverts to a default location of Paris. Handy for some franchises but when I try to change to say New York using the method suggested here I cannot leave Paris. Is it user error, or is it software built in to the iPad2 to stop me changing location further? Frustrating!  |
