You might sometimes notice that you do not get credited the full 50 Bucks when someone franchises your high-popularity business.
I did some research on distance and location and how it affects the cost (in Bucks) and how much the franchised business receives.
First: The franchised business will ALWAYS receive 10% of the amount of bucks used to Franchise (rounded up to the next Buck) UP TO 50 Bucks.
Example: Biz costs 382 Bucks to franchise - the biz owner will receive 39 Bucks.
We used to think that the Business Popularity was the determining factor on how much the biz owner received. That is only part of it. Location and distance between the Franchiser and biz location have a lot to do with it.
Here is a chart with raw data on franchising businesses from a specific location while the franchiser is located at another specific location.
Example: Boston to New York. Boston is where the game location was set. New York is where the franchised biz is located.
"Min. Pop" or Minimum Popularity Required is the lowest popularity amount that a business needs to be at, for the franchised owner to receive 50 Bucks.
The closer your location is to the franchised business - the amount of Bucks needed to Franchise is less. So if you are in Boston and franchising a NY location - the minimum Popularity value has to be 58,140 for them to receive 50 Bucks!!
If you are located in San Francisco and franchising someone's Paris biz, you can franchise a biz with 3,220 popularity and they will receive 50 Bucks.
I've highlighted some of the more practical scenarios in the chart.
Remember - the key is what you pay. If the biz costs 500 Bucks to franchise - the owner WILL receive 50 Bucks.
Also, the reverse holds true: If you want to Franchise a business for LESS bucks, just get as close as possible (or just franchise with coins.)
