MyTown Getaways is kind of like a real world monopoly game. The ultimate point is to have fun with it. I'm just gonning try to explain
BASIC functions and hopefully it will help. As of Oct/2012 there is the Core town site plus two holiday Getaways that you can travel to via the airplane icon on the left side of screen.
Main Screen
On the top left in blue is your current level and XP.Next in purple is your population count and amount of businesses you can ownIn gold is your coins On the top right is your amount of bucks. Bottom left corner is your check ins
Bottom right is the menu

Currently the highest level is 75. You get one buck for every level and coins and XP. The easiest way to level up and gain XP is by what we call blitzing. When you have an hour to spare to play the game then start this. If you have 20 businesses then use 20 checkins by clicking on the icon at the bottom left corner of your screen then click on each one of your businesses. This is called a check in and cuts your job time in half. You make more coins and progress faster by doing 3 minute jobs. A job is basically setting your businesses to make money for you. I have 3 minute, 15 minute, 1 hour and 4 hour jobs. Some mayor's games go up to 10 hours. So in one hour you could set your businesses to do 3 minute jobs 20 times. Using your checkins however will cut that in half and you can knock out 40 jobs. So the three minute job now only takes 90 seconds. When your jobs are done there will be a gold coin on the top right corner of your business. Tap the coin to redeem your profits from the job and start a new job by clicking on the blue face and then setting a time. However if you don't have time to play then set your job to the longest time so your at least still making money while your gone.
[/li][li]Population
Your towns' population is increased by buying decorations, community buildings, houses and some wonders. The number represents how many businesses you can currently own. The more businesses you can own the more money you can make by doing jobs. Just look through the store and you will see the number in white next to each object which represents how much your population will go up after you build that feature. Be aware if you ever decide to delete that object your population will go down that same value. Obviously the more higher population objects are more expensive.
[/li][li]Coins
Pretty self explanatory. Do jobs, do errands around your town pretty much everything gives you coins. Use your coins to buy new objects and expand your town by buying new land.
[/li][li]Bucks
The lifeline of My Town 2. With bucks you can buy all of the cool expensive wonders, the high population community buildings, houses and even high population businesses. There are a few different detailed threads about bucks in this forum that you should read. By posting in the Franchise Me thread you will hopefully get some help from our other members and get a large amount of bucks. With your bucks you can buy pretty much whatever you like. [/li][/ul]
MenuBottom right hand corner of your screen you will see the menu button, tap on that. From left to right you have the store, edit, stats and collect. Also, the Booyah logo (Social) which you can tap on to check for Messages (Gifts), Social (Friend List), updates and More Bucks.
Menu Store[li]BusinessesThe thing about businesses is that you can buy them here or you can franchise them elsewhere. IMO franchising is the better option and I'll explain why when I get to the stats section. Here you will find businesses in your area listed from highest popularity to the lowest. Higher popularity businesses are sought after by most MT2 players because they yield higher profits and keep you higher on the leaderboards. If you have room in your town for another business then you can buy one or use the search bar to find something specific.
[/li][li]Business Search
Once you click on this some of the highest popularity businesses are listed here. Businesses with the Hot! tag are some of the most popular and show the highest gains of people buying them, franchising them or checking into them. However you never have to spend bucks to own the highest popularity businesses in the game. See the How to buy all businesses for coins not bucks thread. You can search for businesses in almost any town in the world by looking through here. Where it says Near you can type in say Orlando, Fl and see the highest popularity businesses in that city. Use the search bar here to find a specific business in that city. Or you could look in your current location.
[/li][li]Housing
You can buy houses for coins or bucks. Obviously the higher population ones will cost you more coins or bucks. These are kinda like self starting jobs as well. These take up to an hour to complete and all you have to do is keep collecting the profits. Tap on a built house in your town with a gold coin next to it to collect the coins then you can tap it again to see how long till you can collect again.
[/li][li]Community
These kind of work the same way as houses except you cannot collect any money from these directly. Once again the higher population community objects will cost you more. Some of these are animated and makes them a fun little addition to your town.
[/li][li]Wonders
There are different wonders available and all of them have different uses. Click on a Wonders details to find out how it will affect your town. Some of them cost coins and some of them cost A LOT of bucks. They vary in size and build times, some are animated and some are not. It's all your decision on what to put in your town.
[/li][li]Decorations
Like the houses and community buildings the more higher population ones will cost you but the good thing about these is that they build instantly.
[/li][li]Check Ins
I've never conidered purchasing check ins. I dont think I've ever run out either.
[/li][li]Bank
I've never considered purchasing coins or bucks either. With the help of this forum you should never have to either.
[/li][li]Featured
Right now there isn't anything special in there but Booyah does release special limited time only holiday content and it will be organized here as well as in its respective section of the store.
[/li][li]Spin to Win
Spins cost money. Click on the yellow question mark to see all the different prizes. Prizes and themes vary! Watch your super spin bar build with every spin and when you get there it is a free spin.
[/li][/ul]
EditHere you can easily move around any of your towns' content. Just tap and drag and have fun. You can also rotate objects or change the skin of your businesses here. Design your own hedge maze, build a farm anything you can imagine.
StatsAt the top left is two cogs for your settings, turn on game center or notifications. At the top is your town name which you can change whenever you like. The sign on the left shows your towns actual stats. Your Booyah ID is how people can look up your town and add to your friends list. Add you ID and Level to your signature here on the forum by editing your profile. This way other members can send you gifts or franchise your businesses. Your population is a combination of all of your wonders, houses, decorations and community buildings. Your earnings are a sum of all your objects and how much coins they earn. Popularity is a sum of all of your businesses' individual popularity. Tap on one of your businesses to see everything about it. What level is it, how much you've earned from it, it's popularity, who has been franchising it from you, etc. Click remodel to choose from a list of skins for that building type. You can also change the building type if you'd like. Some premium skins are available for 20 bucks but be aware that only applies to that one business. The total check ins for that business is the amount of check ins that everyone who owns that specific businesses has accumulated. These businesses are ranked from highest popularity to lowest in the stats page.
SocialThis is your friends list as mentioned above, on the bottom you see Add by Booyah ID. Which as mentioned above this is how you add other users or you can link to your facebook account. Below your Friend List is a second list of towns that are randomly listed by Booyah and are always at similar levels to yours. This is the only way of visiting new towns and finding new friends. (Other than Facebook of MT2 Forum). These towns change each time you reload your game. Franchising has the benefit of zero cost to complete jobs and the businesses earn more coins especially if you franchise a level 10. Each day you get 10 gifts to give to any MT2 user click on a town in your friends list and select one of their businesses by tapping on it. You can franchise it or send a gift to that business. If the town has a level 10, you can send them one buck which is most users like to receive. You can also view your friends' stats and see their businesses listed from highest to lowest population from left to right. Your friends are ranked in your friends list by Level. The option of sending/receiving a friend a thank you gift of check-ins can be done through the booyah/social menu option.
When performing jobs for your businesses you may notice a variety of icons pop up in the upper right hand corner of the business.
The Handshake
The Gift Box
The Upgrade Arrow
The Gold Coins
The Sleepy Face
The Lightning Bolt
The Lost Citizen
The HandshakeThe handshake lets you know that someone has franchised one of your businesses from you. Depending on how far they are from the business they franchised you may receive coins or up to 50 bucks. The amount of coins or bucks you will receive depends on the popularity level of the business as well as its distance from the franchising Mayor. When you tap on the handshake you will see a notice telling you how much coins/bucks received and the amount added to your businesses' popularity. Tapping OK will bring you to your businesses' stats page and list all of the franchisers of that business. You can tap on any of the town names to bring up that Mayors town and if you like, return the favor!
The Gift BoxThe gift box lets you know that another Mayor has sent you one of his/her 10 daily gifts. Depending on the level of the gifted business you can receive one of six different prizes. The prizes are (from lowest level to highest) coins, XP, lightning bolt, population, check ins or one buck. Once you tap on the gift box you will see what's inside and more importantly, who gave it to you. If you like you may also tap view next to the Mayors name to return the favor. The lightning bolt is the only gift that directly affects that individual business. All other gifts go directly into the Mayors' totals.
The Upgrade ArrowThe green arrow means that your business has completed the required number of jobs to go to the next level. You may also receive a new skin, an increase to the businesses income, XP and coins. You may check your town's current levels in the stats page.
The Gold CoinsThis means that your business has completed its current job and is ready for you to collect the income.
The Sleepy FaceOnce you have collected your income you will see this icon which means your business is ready for its next job. Tap on the sleepy face to bring up your job schedule and start a new job.
The Lightning BoltThe pulsing lightning bolt means that you have "checked in" to your business and it is currently operating at double speed. For exactly one hour all jobs will take half of the time they normally do. Each check in also adds one popularity point to your business.
The Lost CitizenNot a single citizen in your town has any idea who he/she is or where they are going. It is more thank likely your fault however for moving things around so much.
The citizen in the pic above is looking for a fountain, tap on the citizen then on the corresponding business, decoration or community object to receive a prize ranging from coins and XP, check ins or one buck.

[li]The red lightning bolt is a temporary perk which is made permanent by building the Mt. Fuji Wonder. Its expensive but instead of tapping each business or housing to collect your coins you simply shake your device to collect. Very convenient if you have a lot of businesses and makes blitzing go a lot faster.
[/li][li]Be aware that things in your town (Housing, Community, Decorations, Businesses and Wonders) all vary in size from a 1x1 to a 5x5 plot of land. You can have either 1 Luxury Apartment or
600 Small Houses. Either way its 12,000 to your population. Things also vary in build times from one minute to one day. I personally don't think its smart to use your bucks to complete jobs or finish builds early. Just wait it out. Save your bucks for something you really want.
[/li][li]It will be beneficial for you, a member of this forum to have at least one business above 3,500 popularity. When someone franchises this high popularity business with bucks then you will receive 50 bucks. Also keeping a low popularity business will be beneficial for a small franchise. The lower the better it will cost us a buck to franchise and you will receive one buck as an alternative to gifting.
[/li][li] Different objects will populate your town with different pedestrians and vehicles. There is a thread which will explain this further.[/li][/ul]
The most important thing is to have fun, imagine whatever you'd like and make it a reality by moving things around adding some road here or a topiary there. If you want high popularity or low popularity its all up to you. Its your town to build the way you like. You will eventually find a way to balance your town out and make it yours.
